Thanks to coronavirus pandemic, a lot of us have had a lot more free time. Unless, of course, you were already home all the time because nobody will freaking hire you no matter how many job applications you fill out. For anime fans, they could watch even more anime. There's already plenty of an anime that's come out in past years, so they would have had a lot of options. However, there was hardly anything new coming out, particularly during the summer. There was barely anything I watched that season. Thanks to the pandemic, a lot of things were delayed, some of which I was really looking forward to. It's not all bad though, because we got some pretty interesting stuff this year. 10. I'm Standing On A Million LivesI'm starting this list off with an isekai. I mentioned in last year's top ten how isekai isn't exactly a well-liked genre. Unlike a lot of anime fans, I don't like to judge isekai because they're isekai. I want to see what they're about before I reach any conclusions. This one was definitely an interesting one. Yotsuya Yuusuke and his classmates Shindou Iu and Hakozaki Kusue have been brought to a strange world inhabited by strange creatures. When they arrive, they encounter a weird guy missing his full face, calling himself the Game Master. He ends up giving them limited time quests. Everyone involved gets different roles that are assigned randomly, for better or for worse. After completing a set amount of missions, they all go back to their old world and eventually have to recruit new "players" for their adventure. As they learn the truth of the world they've been sent to, you'll see that this is actually a pretty serious and dark isekai. 9. Seton Academy: Join The Pack! What would you think of a world where there are only a few humans and it's made up of mostly animals? Most people most likely wouldn't want to be in that world. Unfortunately for Jin Mazama, who hates animals, he won't be encountering very many other humans. He ends up attending Seton Academy, a school attened by different kinds of animals. He and a girl named Hitomi Hino are the only humans at the school. Since Hitomi is also human, Jin has an interest in her. However, he ended up getting a wolf named Ranka attached to him and she won't leave him alone! Later, these three, along with a koala, a sloth, and a cat end up in a cooking club. For the most part, the characters find themselves getting into some pretty comedic situations. Not only that, but the show teaches its viewers about different animals. I've learned some disgusting things, like how baby kaolas eat their mother's poop. One really odd thing about this show is how only the female animals have more humanoid appearances. The males just look like animals. That's a little unfair, to be honest. Despite that, this show was still pretty entertaining. 8. TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For YouI assume that most men want to get married at some point. For some of them though, it's likely not going to happen so they can just watch this show and spend every night crying themselves to sleep. Kidding aside, this is a show about marriage. The main character is a smart guy named Nasa Yuzaki. For a while, he's pretty certain that he has his life figured out. Unfortunately for him, things end up happening. On his way home one evening, he sees a girl and wants to get her attention. As he attempts to approach her, he ends up getting hit by a truck. Luckily, the girl ends up saving him. She soon takes off, but Nasa decides to go after her despite his crippled state. When he catches up to her, he asks her to go out with him. She accepts on the condition that he marries her. The two would eventually meet again and start their newlywed life. Overall, I thought this show as pretty cute. If you're a fan of Hayate The Combat Butler, you might enjoy this since it has the same creator. 7. Sleepy Princess In The Demon CastleSome people just want to sleep. That's me pretty much every weekend. But I always have people telling me I've been in bed for too long and they end up yelling at me for not being up. However, if you're an abducted princess, you can definitely get a lot of sleep in! Princess Syalis ends up getting kidnapped by the demon lord. Under normal circumstances, the princess would just sit still and wait for the hero to come rescue her. But Syalis isn't a normal princess! She keeps thinking of ways she can get a good sleep and to do so, she'll need materials. To get these materials, she'll have to break out of her cell. Before the demons know it, she's going in and out of her cell as she pleases and causing chaos all over the castle. She even harm and kills some of them for materials! While all this is going on, the hero and his party are on their way over to the castle, but they keep getting lost and into all kinds of trouble due to the hero's poor luck. Unfortunately for him, she doesn't even want to be saved. She just wants sleep. Her actions and the consequences of said actions were what made this show great. And I love the expressions the characters make too. 6. Uzaki-chan Wants To Hang Out!Some people have nothing better to do than complain about fictional characters. One thing was made clear about the hatred for this anime: a lot of people in the real world aren't aware that short people exist. People were saying Hana Uzaki was designed to look like a child, so liking her made people pedophiles. All I can say is, you're fucking imbeciles. She's designed to be short. There's a difference. Plus, she's not even a child. She is a college student who is eighteen when the series starts. Anyways, the show is about her reuniting with her upperclassman from high school, Shinichi Sakurai, who used to be in the same club as her. Sakurai is a bit of a loner and Uzaki wants to change that. She does whatever she can to keep him from being alone. Sakurai ends up finding her extremely annoying but still goes along with her shenanigans. He doesn't dislike her and finds himself growing more fond of her over time, causing people to read into things and often get the wrong idea. There were plenty of comedic situations in this show and overall, it was pretty good. Not gonna lie, it was the controversy that got me interested in watching. So congratulations to everyone complaining about this show. All you did was convince more people to watch it. 5. Rent-A-GirlfriendI know how a lot of guys can be when it comes to women. And I know that some guys get so desperate that they'd try stupid things just to get a girlfriend. Apparently, you can just rent one. That's the point of this show. Kazuya Kinoshita is a college student who has a girlfriend, until she dumped him. But suddenly, he doesn't. Wanting to do something about the pain he's feeling after the breakup, he hires a rental girlfriend through an online app. His partner is Chizuru Mizuhara, who he ends up dragging into a weird situation. He lies to his family about her being his real girlfriend and the lie ended up spreading to her grandmother as well. As a result, the two have to keep up this lie as Kazuya's wallet gets close to empty. It gets tough hiding the secret from both is family and friends and the challenge goes up even higher when even more rental girlfriends get involved. To make things worse, Kazuya actually ends up falling for Chizuru. 4. The Day I Became A GodI consider myself to be a big fan of works by Key or Visual Arts or whatever they're calling themselves. For those of you who don't know, they've made a handful of popular works including Clannad, Angel Beats, and Little Busters. They're also responsible for Summer Pockets, a visual novel I reviewed on my website recently. Stuff they make are often considered to be some of the saddest anime stories ever written. While they do have their sad moments, I don't really get that emotional in most of them. The Day I Became A God is one of their anime originals. They have a lot of adaptations of their visual novels which usually turn out really well. Their anime originals are usually solid, but have an ending that doesn't feel like it was thought out very well. That's the one thing I'm worried about with this show. Anyways, this show stars Youta Narukami during his last high school summer vacation. As he prepares for his university entrance exams, he encounters a strange girl named Hina. To make things even weirder, that girl claims to be a god. According to her, there would only be 30 days until the world would end. Of cours, Youta doesn't believe him until the things she says will happen actually start happening. She also ends up staying with his family, so he wouldn't be able to get away from her. In the end, he tries to make the most out of what little time on Earth he and his friends have left with Hina's help. Out of Key's stuff, this was said to be one of the most heartbreaking. It didn't really get the water pouring out but it definitely was sad. Until this show, I didn't know something could be cute and depressing at the same time. 3. My Next Life As A VillainessThis is one of the freshest takes on isekai I've seen in a while. Judging by the title, I wasn't actually expecting that much from it. While it takes place in a medieval fantast setting, like most isekai do, it has several elements that set it apart from the rest. One day, Katarina Claes ends up regaining the memories of her past life. She soon realizes that she reincarnated as the antagonist of her favorite dating simulator. As someone that's played the game, she knows that the endings in the game didn't have Katarina end up in any favorable positions. She could either be exiled or executed, so it's her goal to avoid any kind ending like that. How she tries to go about it is by acting completely different from the one in game. Along the way, she makes a lot of friends and finds herself causing a lot of trouble for her family. To make things even crazier, most of her friends, regardless of sex, seem to be romantically interested in her. However, Katarina is too dense to realize any of that. There isn't really a whole lot else I can say without spoiling anything, but I will say that I teared a bit in one of the last episodes. 2. Somali And The Forest SpiritAnyone that knows me knows I like cute things. If you didn't before now, well, now you know. This anime takes place in a world where humans are nearly extinct. Unlike other shows where monsters are the ones being persecuted against, it's the other way around here. One day, a golem finds a lone human girl. It's his job to act as a guardian for the forest, but he was almost at the end of his life span. He knew if he didn't do anything, Somali would likely die. The two of them set out on a journey to find other humans. Together, they travel to several different locations befriending many different creatures and learn about the history of their world. It's not going to be easy, though. Since Somali is human, their journey is very dangerous. As the two of them spend time together, their father-daughter relationship gets stronger. Overall, I thought this show was pretty cute and Somali herself was freaking adorable. 1. KakushigotoWhen I first saw what this show was about, I was little concerned. Then I actually watched it and discovered it was actually pretty wholesome and cute. The main character of this show is a man named Kakushi Gotou. He happens to be a manga artist whose work is pretty dirty. Due to the nature of his work, he wouldn't to keep what he did for a living a secret from his young daughter, Hime. Due to how he believed she'd be disillusioned if she found out, he would often end up in pretty crazy situations, causing a few misunderstandings between people too.
He does the best he can and many times goes to extremes to protect his secret, like pretending to be a salaryman every day or having emergency drills at work in case Hime were to actually for some reason show up one day. In the end, it was pretty humorous and adorable as well. Everything led up to a really solid final episode too, so I highly recommend checking this one out. And these were my favorites from this year. It wasn't meant to be any deep reviews or anything. I said the same thing last year, too. All I did was share the shows I liked most, said what they were about, and gave a little bit about what I liked about them. If there's anything you liked that wasn't on here, there are a few possibilities (sorry to fans of Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!), I started watching it too late into the year, or just haven't watched it yet. There are some 2019 shows I would have added to my list if I didn't take until 2020 to start watching too. Who knows? Maybe you'll try some of my recommendations out if you haven't. If not, well, I'm not your mom. I can't make you do anything.

Re:Zero - RealizeAt present, Summer Pockets it the latest visual novel from Key/Visual Arts. It's highly likely that you're familiar with their works. Everyone knows about Clannad and Angel Beats, but they have plenty of other good stories like Little Busters, Kanon, and Rewrite. They are a visual novel studio that and their work often gets adapted into anime and even manga. Some of which I watch the anime adaptation first. Currently, Summer Pockets does not have an adaptation. Since I already liked their older works, both their anime and visual novels, I figured I would check this out.
The main character of Summer Pockets is Haira Takahara who had recently been suspended from school. He ended up going to an island after an invitation from his aunt Kyouko to go through his deceased grandmother's belongings. Another relative, Umi was invited over and it's not specified how she's related to the main character. At least, not right away. To his surprise, his aunt doesn't have him help right away and tells him to go explore the island. Most days, Kyouko just ends up doing the work herself, continuing to tell Hairi to just to whatever he wants. After the first few days, where he meets everyone, the player will have to choose where they'd like to go on the island. A character is displayed in the locations where you can interact with them. There are only four characters that have routes: Shiroha Naruse, Ao Sorakado, Tsumugi Wenders, and Kamome Kushime. Hairi and Shiroha start off on the wrong foot. It really doesn't help that they met at a pool at night while she was in her underwear. Then there's Ao, who happens to be really perverted and will read into anything that anyone says. Then there's the two innocent characters Tsumugi and Kamome. Tsumugi is a calm and honest girl who is searching for something she wants to do and Kamome is a mysterious girl always dragging a suitcase around with her. There are a couple other girls that cannot be dated: Shizuku Mizuori and Miki Nomura, Nomiki for short. Shizuku is always hanging around Tsumugi and she has some weird obsession with boobs. Nomiki is one of the island's Public Order Executives, protecting the island's morals daily. She dislikes seeing anyone in public shirtless. There does happen to be a guy on the island who likes to not wear a shirt: Ryouichi Mitani. He likes to take it off regardless of where he is. The other main male character is Tenzen Kanou, who has an unhealthy obsession with Table Tennis. While there are four main routes, there are some extras. When you're first introduced to Tenzen, you have the option of playing Table Tennis with him. You can choose to play more of it when you get further in the visual novel. There's also a Pokemon parody where you find monsters around the island and have them battle each other. Just some nice extra distractions. Overall, it's an okay amount of content right here, but you really only have to do the four main routes to unlock the true route. Key's other visual novels took me a lot longer so I don't feel like the game's current price tag is entirely justified. In a lot of their visual novels, once you complete the main routes, you unlock some kind of "after story" which functions as the game's true route which leads to the real ending. Their first visual novel, Kanon didn't have that. This only really became the norm when they released Clannad. It seems that they've continued to do so. This game has not one, but two true routes. You unlock the alka route when you complete the scenarios for Shiroha, Ao, Tsumugi, and Kamome. It shouldn't really be a spoiler to say that Shiroha is the true/canon ship since Key's visual novels usually make it clear which one is. As you go through this route, certain things start to become more clear, like why the game is called Summer Pockets and what some of the characters have been hiding from everyone. When you get to the true routes, the game turns into a kinetic visual novel. In other words, your choices don't matter. I'm not the biggest fan of those visual novels, but here I'm fine with it since the true routes are rewards for completing the main game. The alka route has choices to make, but the second true route, the pockets route doesn't have any choices at all. When it comes to Key's visual novels, they usually start off with a normal concept but as you get far enough, you'll find plenty of supernatural elemenents. Most of their visual novels have a route or two without from what I've seen. However, pretty much all of them have something supernatural about them. Then in the true route, there's usually some big secret, always something not possible in our world. So much happened in these routes and then this visual novel managed to do something that none of their others had done before. A lot of people that are familiar with their works know them to be sad, but I managed to make it through most of them without crying, I shed more than a few tears on the true routes in Summer Pockets. I try not to think about what happened because I don't want to start back up again. Even with all the sad endings, there's usually some kind of happy ending. However, Key isn't always the best at these. There's usually something that isn't clear or just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. In the case of Summer Pockets, it was just way too abrupt. I would've preferred that it keep going a bit longer and have a bit more detail on what happened with the characters at the end. Overall, it was a good story, even if it did steal elements from a lot of their past works: moving in with aunt like in Kanon, the family themes from Clannad, the setting from Air, the "this girl was in a coma the whole time" thing that BOTH Clannad and Kanon have done, etc. Even if they did steal from themselves, it still was a solid story and one of their saddest so far. It wasn't perfect though. While it did have plenty of well-written moments full of comedy or sadness, there were plenty of awkward moments as well. The story may have been good, but I do feel a bit cheated. I felt like Summer Pockets had less to offer in comparison to their other visual novels like Clannad and Little Busters. It wouldn't bother me so much if the game's price tag wasn't as high as it is so I'm glad I got it while it was on sale. I was a little disappointed that there were only four datable characters. Even their first visual novel, Kanon had more than that. It turns out there's an expansion that adds four more routes, so you can spend more time with Shizuku, Nomiki, an all new girl, and Umi. I expect Umi's to not be a romance route for more than one reason. The expansion was announced one year after the original came out in Japan... while the original was in the middle of getting localized. I really hope we can get the new stuff as DLC instead of having to buy it seperately, but we're just not going to know until it comes out. It HAS been confirmed that Key plans on bringing that version to Steam though and considering most of their stuff on Steam has been released in English, we can probably expect the expansion to be in English as well. Despite feeling it was somewhat lacking in content (to be honest, the price tag is to blame for that), I enjoyed my time quite a bit with this visual novel. Now that I've completed the main story, I feel pretty sad that it's over. I do have the extra content to take care of, so I could get on that. I also look forward to whenever the expansion gets released in the west. There are plenty of things I liked about this visual novel: the sprite work was great and some of the girls were pretty adorable. The soundtrack has some of their most memorable songs, so lately I'm often hearing them in my head. There was some nice attention to detail too. Whenever you complete a girl's route, she disappears from the title screen. In the end, Summer Pockets was a great read and I'm hoping that this will get an anime adaptation at some point. After reading through, I can tell it would be a challenge to adapt but considering Little Busters happened, I wouldn't say it's impossible. If you're a fan of Key's stuff or love visual novels, I highly recommend checking this out, but you should probably wait for a price drop or get the expansion when and if that gets localized. At least a few people are aware of this right now. I have had issues with my hands for years. When I say this, I'm referring to something that started a few years ago, but there's really a problem that started before then. First of all, I'd like to get what I mentioned first out of the way. In my profile on some websites, I put down that I have "Cutaneous Adherence Syndrome". Unless I've told you about it before, I'd assume you'd never heard of it. It's a condition that causes one's skin on a specific part of their body to always feel sticky, no matter what. If you encounter someone with the condition, you're not really going to know unless they tell you. In my case, what always feels sticky is my hands.
I remember this started the day after Thanksgiving in 2015. To make things worse, I had another issue back then. My hands were always sweating too. Hyperhidrosis is another annoying condition. Palmar Hyperhidrosis is where someone has to deal with excessive sweating in their hands. The first day with this, I thought it would go away after washing my hands. It didn't. I then thought if I waited I day, I'd be fine. I wasn't. Then, I thought maybe it had to do with the Christmas decorations we set up that day. Perhaps my hands were reacting to something we had? But after putting everything away, nothing really changed. I went a good while without mentioning this to anybody, but it really started to get on my nerves. The sweating would eventually come less frequently. Now I just have to deal with my hands always feeling sticky. I've tried different things to treat it, some of which pretty stupid like burning my hands in hot water. Sometimes you just get to a point where you're so desperate you'd try just about anything, no matter how dumb it sounds. I eventually started seeing a dermatologist and was able to learn a bit more, like the fact that I was one of only TWO cases the guy had seen in THIRTY years. That's when it really sunk in how rare this condition is. He recommended a product for me to try, but I eventually quit using it due to it not working. I've found other things that help make it easier for me to do stuff over the years. I've got lotion meant for palmar hyperhidrosis, that I don't really have anymore. However, it does help slightly with Cutaneous Adherence Syndrome, so I've been using it. Unfortunately, there's no real cure for what I've got so I worry that I'll have to spend the rest of my life with it. All I can do is find different ways to treat it, but I won't lie, it really makes it hard to get by sometimes. I'm surprised I even made it through school with this condition. One of the biggest things this condition did to me was affect my hobbies. People that have known me for a while know I'm a gamer. I've always loved video games. However, having this condition made it harder to play them and before I knew it, I couldn't really play a lot of the games I wanted to play. I wouldn't touch most genres. All I could really play were visual novels since I didn't really have to touch a whole lot. During this time, there was lot of Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, Hotel Dusk, and I got to play some really good visual novels on PC like Katawa Shoujo and Lucid9. After I got the lotion, I started trying more, but it still wasn't quite enough, but I could handle more keyboard and mouse games at least. So I was able to enjoy Sonic Mania for a while. One day, my dad came home with a package of gloves so I started wearing them and they have made it so much easier to do stuff. If I never got them I wouldn't be able to play a lot of the stuff I've been playing. Thanks to these, I was able to play my first Persona game (Persona 3 Portable) and currently I'm able to play one of the best free to play games I've ever played (Genshin Impact). It's annoying I've gotta wear gloves to enjoy this hobby of mine though. At the very least, I don't have to deal with the sweaty palm issue we've all had when playing games anymore. My hands hadn't really improved by they were fine enough to do things for most of this year, but that all changed around August. But before I get to that, I've gotta go further into my past. I don't talk about it a whole lot but I've got OCD to some extent. I tend to wash my hands frequently. When I think about how I used to never wash them when I was a kid, I feel pretty disgusted with myself. How did I live like that? However, they're have been a lot of things that make me feel like I have to wash my hands afterwards which get me awkward looks from people at home. They often question why I'm washing. At times, they complain about me taking too long. The thing is though, any guide will say you need twenty seconds or so but if I take more than five, I'm told I'm taking too long. The big problem isn't how things make me feel like I need to wash my hands, it's what it takes to get them to feel clean. For a while, there wasn't anything weird. Just once and I was good. When I got to high school, it changed from once to twice. During this time, I was still told I took too long and also told I used too much soap, which got me into trouble on more than one occasion. I was told I was using too much liquid soap, so my mom made me switch to bars of soap and then I was told I was going through those too quickly and then it was back to the liquid soap. For a while, I've felt that if I don't wash my hands long enough or use enough soap, they just won't feel clean. My parents would just tell me I'm being a ridiculous, but as long as my hands are being like this, there isn't really anything I can do about it. They don't really have the problems I have, so of course they wouldn't understand. They (particularly my mother) make fun of my OCD and it's really hurtful if I'm honest. However, if I tell them that, they're not really going to listen. Anyways, the problem that began in August of 2020. One day, my hands just wouldn't feel clean no matter how many times I washed them. It didn't matter how long, how much soap I used, or how many times. My hands just continue to feel like they aren't even clean. I'll be doing something, and then that feeling will come up. I'll know I've washed but my hands are telling me they aren't clean so I just go and end up washing them again only for the cycle to repeat. Honestly, it's driving me insane. My parents complain about me going through too much soap and stuff, but they fail to see that this is hard on me too. It's not like I want to be like this. I don't like using too much soap. I don't like feeling like I have to wash so many goddamn times. I hate having hands that are so damn sensitive. I thought maybe I might have forgotten how to wash so I looked it up and I'm not really doing it any different from what the hand-washing guides say. Despite that, my hands keep not feeling clean and I just end up tiring my arms out. I did some research on this too, and from what I've found, it seems it's just a part of OCD so now I'm worried that this is just something I'll have to live with too. It's just gotten to a point where I don't know what to do about my hands. If I didn't need them, I'd cut them off. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but still, you should get the idea. I worried about them. I hate them. I don't know what to do with them. It's annoying. My hands just piss me off. Well, that's all I really have to say about them. Just felt like I had to get all this out there. I hope this won't last like my Cutaneous Adherence Syndrome. I've watched plenty of anime over the years. I've been into all sorts of genres, whether it be comedy, action, or even romance. But some of the stuff I watch can get pretty weird from time to time. In fact, some shows are so weird that it would be hard to explain what it is you were watching if somebody walked into the room. So, I decided to put together a list of some of the weirdest shows I've seen. However, I've seen even more weird shows since I started this list, so maybe I'll have to revisit this topic at some point? Without wasting anymore time, here's eight of the weirdest shows I've seen. 8.) ZOMBIE LAND SAGAThis anime combines two things I never really thought I'd ever see together: Zombies and pop idols. The show begins with the main character, Sakura Minamoto getting hit by a truck on her way to an idol audition. Instead of reincarnating in another world like in other shows where the main character gets hit by a truck, she is later revived, as a zombie. She ends up together with a few other women who had died at different points in time and the person that brought them together is the very eccentric Koutarou Tatsumi, who ends up acting as their manager. The whole idol group was his idea, too. With his help, the girls all end up performing as idols. Since they're all zombies, they have to use a lot of make-up. Hiding what they are isn't always easy though. There have been some times where they've freaked people out or at least come close to. While they do have fun together, their pasts do end up causing some trouble for them. 7.) The World God Only KnowsKeima Katsuragi is a huge fan of dating sims. In fact, he is one of the best at the genre. One day, he recieves a strange e-mail, mentioning some kind of challenge, which he accepts. The next the thing he knows is that he's got a collar around his neck that won't come off and a demon girl named Elsie appears to assist him. What he's supposed to do is make girls fall in love with him to save them from demons that possess them. The good thing is every girl that falls for him for gets about everything so he's able to keep going without anyone getting mad at him. To makes things worse, he has to keep this up or else the collar won't come off and he'll die. Unfortunately for Keima, getting girls to fall for him isn't exactly easy. The girls in real life or much different from the ones in his precious dating sims. It's kinda the same thing for a little while until some new characters come into the picture later on and make things more complicated. 6.) Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya*Spoilers for the Fate series* Fate/Stay Night was a visual novel that eventually became an anime and also recieved a handful of spin-offs. One of which stars one of the important characters in the original series, llyasviel von Einzbern. In this show, she starts off as an ordinary elementary school student living with her adopted older brother Shirou Emiya and two of her family's servents, Sella, the more serious one and Leysritt, the lazy one. One day, Illya suddenly becomes a magical girl when the magical Kaleidostick, Ruby finds her to be a more suitable master than the sorceress, Rin Tohsaka. Rin, who had been tasted to collect the seven Class Cards containing Heroic Spritis from legend, finds she can't change Ruby's mind has to supervise Illya when it comes to the task of collecting the cards. As this goes on, they encounter another magical girl named Miyu who is also trying to collect the cards. She is the master of Kaleidostick Sapphire, which also abandoned its original master who happened to be Rin's rival, Luvia Edelfelt. After some battles, Illya and Miyu collected all the cards and became good friends. Meanwhile, Illya and Luvia still don't like each other. Things end up getting more complicated when a dark-skinned girl named Kuro shows up. She has an extremely similar appearance to Illya. Oh, and she wants to murder Illya. Their fights are put to an end when Illya's mother, Irisviel shows up. So both of them are supposed to live together as sisters or something. But this is where the show gets extremely weird. Kuro needs mana to live and it seems to replenish it... she has to make out with people? I found myself looking away from the screen on multiple occasions. Not only is the process of restoring mana awkward as hell, but the outfits the kids wear at times, I'm not really comfortable looking at. It's just way too much skin for characters that are that young. That aside, in the end, Illya, Kuro, Rin, and Luvia are actually working together to face new problems that come their way. 5.) Please TeacherKei Kusanagi suffers from a very rare disease which causes him to go into a comatose state that's referred to as a "standstill" whenever he goes through severe emotional distress. He had previously gone into a standstill that lasted three years, so at the beginning of the story, he's eighteen years old with the body of a fifteen year old. After that, he ends up living with his aunt and uncle and wants to keep everything that happened a secret. The first thing that happens in the story has Kei by a lake where he witnesses several un-explainable phenomena. Before he knows it, a half-human alien named Mizuho Kazami appears before him. She had come to observe Earth in order to prevent humans from making developmental mistakes. Kazami was supposed to prevent her true identity and mission from being discovered, and she had already messed up. The very next day, Kazami has become both his new homeroom teacher and his next-door neighbor. The two later end up having a moment alone, and both of them dicuss their secrets. The school's headmaster finds them alone and questions what's going on between the two of them. Well, someone ends up stating that he and Mizuho are married, also revealing his true age. The headmaster then backs off because he was married to a former student younger than himself. The two of them are then allowed to stay as long as they do not reveal the fact that they are married to any of the other students and not perform any public displays of affection. The rest of the series has him trying to hide the fact that he and Mizuho are married and at the same time develops the relationships he has with his friends, one of which having a crush on him. 4.) Dog & ScissorsA high school boy named Kazuhito Harumi is obsessed with reading books. He unfortunately comes to an early death after being shot when protecting a stranger during a robbery. After his death, he is reincarnated as a long-haired dachshund. He is taken in by Kirihime Natsuno, the very person he tried to save who happens to be the only person who can understand anything he says. He ends up finding out that she is his favorite author, but unfortunately for him, she turns out to be a sadist that loves to terrorize him with scissors. Throughout the show, he'll encounter people that he knew when he was alive but since they can't understand him, communicating with them would be difficult. To make things worse, they aren't all that nice to him. 3.) FLCLI started watching this to see what all the hype was about when there would be two new seasons that year. What I got was a show that made no damn sense whatsoever. Overall, I had no clue what was going on, but I'll share what I did know about the plot, which is basically the plot you can find listed on any anime progress tracking website. The main character is a boy named Naota who is in sixth grade. His older brother leaves for America to play baseball, leaving his financially crippled girlfirend Mamimi behind. She ends up sending mixed signals to Naota, who doesn't know what to do about her. Unfortunately for him, things get worse when he is run over by a woman on a Vespa. Her name is Haruko Haruhara and she's an alien. Since meeting her, Naota's life is turned upside down and all sorts of weird and crazy things happen to him. By the end of the first season, I didn't know what I watched. The two seasons that came out in 2018 follow entirely new protagonists so that really didn't help clear up any confusion. To make things worse I don't really know what was going on in the new seasons either. I felt like they were only slightly easier to understand, to be honest. These seasons are kinda the same thing too. Haruko shows up and all kinds of crazy things end up happening. In the end, whether you actually understand FLCL or not, you'll probably at least agree that it's pretty damn weird. 2.) Gonna Be Twin-Tail!!Souji Mitsuka is a high school student who has an obsession with twin-tails. One day, when he and his childhood friend, Aika Tsube are at his family's restaurant, they encounter a strange alien woman named Twoearle. She ends up getting Souji to wear this bracelet and then the next thing they know, they are out in the city that's being attacked by some kind of monster. This is when Souji and Aika find out that there are these weirdo aliens that want to steal "attributes" from people. It turns out the very first monster Souji goes up against wants to steal the "twin-tail" attribute, so of course he'd want to do something about it. Twoearle instructs him on how to use the bracelet to activate his "tail gear", which by doing so, turns him into a girl. But even like this, he still fights the aliens. He ends up making the news as "Tail Red", which he finds incredibly embarrassing. To make things even more embarrassing, his mother knew he was Tail Red. After that, Twoearle ends up moving in with the Mitsuka family, even building a secret base under their house! At school, everyone is talking about Tail Red, which creeps Souji out. It turns out that even the student council president, Erina Shindou is a huge fan of Tail Red. Over time, Tail Red would get allies to help him/her defeat all these weird perverted aliens. This includes both Aika and Erina. The former calling herself Tail Blue and the later calling herself Tail Yellow. With everything that happens, it's interesting that Souji's mother can be so nonchalant about everything: her son turning into a girl, the perverted alien Twoearle trying to steal his virginity, and the fact that her son has become some kind of super hero. Never thought there would be a day where I could say I saw a show where a boy turns into a girl to fight perverted aliens. 1.) KämpferThis is definitely one of the most bizarre shows I've seen. The main character, Natsuru Senō goes to a high school where the boys are separated from the girls. He has a crush on his childhood friend, Kaede Sakura who has a collection of stuffed animals that are styled in brutal ways of dying called Entrail Animals. Natsuru ends up with one of these Entrail Animals, a stuffed tiger named Harakira Tora. One morning, he finds that he has turned into a girl. To make things
even weirder, the stuffed tiger turns out be alive and informs him that he has been chosen as a Kämpfer, a female fighter that must fight against other Kämpfer not on the same team which is indicated by the bracelets each one is wearing. By being a Kämpfer himself, Natsuru gets the attention of multiple girls who are also Kämpfer. At first, Natsuru has trouble controlling when he transforms. To make things worse, a Kämpfer on the student council decides that he is to start attending school as a girl. Because of this, he ends up having to balance two different school lives. He ends up going by the same name either way and for some reason, nobody really questions it. But thanks to everybody being too dumb to question that there are two people named Natsuru Senō, he's able to keep it a secret. That's not the worst part though - Natsuru's crush is attracted to his female form and it seems that she is connected to the formation of the Kämpfer. Many episodes have different Kämpfer fighting against each other and plenty of fan service. I had no idea what I was getting into when I decided to watch this. These are some of the weirdest shows I've seen. I'm sure someone could tell me they've seen weirder, but come on, do you really want to make this a competition? I already feel awkward enough admitting that I've watched some of these. But hey, if you're interested in these now that I've talked about them, I won't stop you. Just be prepared to turn your screen off if people walk into the room or even better, just watch these when nobody is home. There's plenty of fan service in most of these, so be careful. One last thing, don't even ask what I'm watching these days. I honestly don't even know anymore. I've been making some changes to Fixing Things in my free time. Although, most of it has just been cleaning up the code. There's one route in the game I still need to finish writing. When I started this, my process was different and I didn't plan anything ahead of time. I just did what I always did and winged it. Somehow, that's worked out for me in the past but without having planned out a lot of this stuff in advance, it makes it a little difficult. The code being a mess since it was one of my first projects in Ren'py has also made me not want to bother working with it. But, I've been working on it again so hopefully it'll get done for real. Most of the backgrounds are from the same sources, but some are new and the music is mostly from the same places. Then, there are the sprites, which were made by NoranekoGames. Hope you look forward to the final version of this project.
After all the time I spent working on it, School For The Friendless is finally complete. If I'm honest, it's probably the most fun I've ever had creating any visual novel so far. Seriously, I spent most of the last few weeks working on this project, whether it was writing the original script or doing the code. Anyways, the game is free. Payment is optional. If you're willing to spend a bit, you'll get a few extras. Now, what's the visual novel about?
When Harold (or whatever you decide to name him) is sent to a college for people that have no friends, he's not sure what to expect. When there, he finds out they pair up their students and once they're put together, they're assigned the same room. But what would happen if his assigned partner turned out to be a girl? There are three girls that are constantly hanging around him. There's the trouble-making Anima, the mysterious but innocent Scout, and then the highly perverted Vivian. What kinds of things will they get up to and how will they affect each other's lives? Download: Itch.io Gamejolt Lately, I've been pretty busy. Well, as busy I can be when I'm not watching anime. However, lately I have gotten really into working on one of my projects, which happens to be a visual novel. What makes this one different is that I've had a lot more fun making it than I did the others. I'm not saying I hated making those, but I never got super into them and procrastinated a lot. For some reason, I've just been super motivated for this project and gotten a lot down. Things are going well, so it should definitely be out this summer. At this point, I've been mentioning the project and giving some teases, but now I think it's finally time to actually reveal what it's all about. The idea behind this visual novel is actually based off on an older one of mine. It went through a couple different versions before I settled on this idea, which stayed in my head for a while. One night after taking a shower, I decided I wanted to work on this project and gathered resources to use that night. Over the next week, I would just write and then I got to the coding. But enough about that. It's time I say what it's all about. The main character, Harold (who can be named whatever you want) ends up going to college (yes, college - even though it may seem like a high school) for people with no friends. When at that school he finds out that they pair students together and those paired together end up becoming roommates, regardless of their genders. So, what would happen if he got paired up with a girl? There are three girls in the visual novel, each with their own route. One is noticably shorter than the other ones, but it's still a decent length on its own. The other two are about the same length. Each of the routes will have three endings: one romance, one friendship, and one bad ending. There is also one more ending that you'll be able to get if Harold doesn't end up with any of these girls. Anima Freeman The first one we have is Anima Freeman, who likes to cause trouble for others. As for how I came up with her name, I did what I usually do and used Behind The Name. I just searched "free spirit" since she seems like the kind of girl that does whatever she wants, and I thought the name was interesting so I went with it. Scout Segreti Next, we have the weird and mysterious, Scout Segreti. She's also the most innocent and childlike of the three. For how I came up with her name, I can't remember what lead me to it on Behind The Name. I should also mention that it wasn't To Kill A Mockingbird that made me choose the name. However, it's just a nickname in that story. I liked the name and thought it worked for her. Vivian Keen Finally, there's Vivian, the annoying pervert who doesn't really care who is around when she's being inappropriate. Despite her behavior, she does have a bit of a mature side, which usually surprises other. When it comes to her name, I searched all kinds of terms on Behind The Name and eventually got to this name. When it comes to the choices you have to make, I feel like it can be kind of easy to figure out what you have to choose, but maybe that's partially because I wrote the story, so I'd know anyways? Because of this, I actually made the conditions for getting the romance endings a little strict. So here's some coding talk. If you make a choice that relates to a certain character and/or how you treat them, a point is added. You don't a crazy high amount of these to get on one of their routes. However, you need to get most of the points related to the specific character you're going for to get the romance ending. And if you can't understand what I'm saying, here's wording that should be easier to understand: I made it so the romance ending is the hardest to get.
On any of these three main routes, Harold will be spending time with all three girls (just one more than the others, obviously). Since he and one of them will be paired together, he'll need to figure out how to get along with her and deal with any problems that come up. Each of these three girls has some kind of issue that for the most part, lead to their personalities being the way that they are, assuming they weren't that way already. In the end, he'll be finishing school with either a best friend or a girlfriend. That's really all I want to say about the visual novel for now. It shouldn't take too long before it gets here! One more thing, I'm now on Patreon! After about a month or so of working, I managed to complete another visual novel. Of course I couldn't work on it 100% of the time though. Plenty of things came up in my personal life, including the lack of acceptance of anything I do online, but enough about that. Like usual, resources are pulled from various places. That means sprites, music, backgrounds, sound effects, etc. were by other people with a few exceptions. Everyone whose resources I've used has allowed people to use their stuff in their projects and each one of them has been credited. Now, the story.
Everything was going just fine for Oscar until one day when he woke up to find a girl in his room. Her name is Mika and she claims to have known him and his family for a long time. However, Oscar doesn't recognize her at all but to make things even more confusing, everyone around him is acting like she's always been around! As he spends more time with her, he will uncover the mystery of who she really is, assuming he doesn't try to run away from all of this. Just who is this girl and why is she messing is his life up?
