After close to a whole month of back and forth with Steam Support, School For The Friendless is finally coming to Steam. For the most part, it’s the same game, just with minor changes that don’t affect the gameplay at all. Other than add Steam achievements, which took forever to figure out how to do, I’ve updated the credits for the free to use assets with links to their licenses. The store page is up now and if things go according to plan, it will launch on Steam this month!

I recently completed all four Trails Of Cold Steel games and playing through all of them was pretty exhausting not gonna lie. I went straight to Trails Of Cold Steel right after Trails In The Sky SC, because I didn’t think I needed to play 3rd chapter and the Crossbell games between Sky and Cold Steel aren’t out in the west yet. Honestly, I ended up enjoying Cold Steel way more than Sky. Being several games later, several things about the game are improved, including the poor game balance that most of these games have. It’s nowhere near perfect in Cold Steel, but it’s definitely way more tolerable. Out of all the games, I found the first Cold Steel to be the least frustrating and most fun. Not only that, but a handful of elements introduced in this game were featured in Tokyo Xanadu, another game I’ve played and really liked. When I got to the ending though, I really wasn’t sure how to react since it was a cliffhanger.
Eventually, I’d start Cold Steel II, picking up right where the previous game had left off. Although, this was after I decided I wanted to play Sky 3rd Chapter. Cold Steel II took on a way different format and had everyone travelling all over, which sounds cool on paper but it ended up feeling pretty tedious. The majority of the game was good, taking what I liked about the previous game and adding more stuff. Unfortunately, the game’s ending I take some issue with. It’s not the reveals. I’ll be honest, Cold Steel II probably has the most shocking revelation of all the games. At least to me it is. The problem I have is the final moments drag on and the final boss was bullshit. Also, there’s some stuff with Crossbell stuff that’s hard to appreciate when the Crossbell games have yet to be officially localized. The third game was horrible about this. Techinally, it’s not the games fault, but it’s definitely on Nihon Falcom and the localizers for getting these games localized out of order. There’s an entire chapter in Crossbell and I really couldn’t appreciate any of the returning Crossbell stuff. To kind of make up for it, some characters from Sky return. I did like seeing Rean go from being a student to an instructer and his students were decent characters but this is when I really started to feel like these games were dragging on. Cold Steel III is hours longer than Cold Steel II and I often felt like it went on way longer than it needed to. One of my least favorite parts is the bosses that heal themselves. Of course, they’re not new to RPGs but Cold Steel III took it way too far. Several bosses are capable of healing themselves and they do it CONSTANTLY and that resulted in me getting several game overs. It’s a decent game, but definitely my least favorite Cold Steel. Then IV, I had some issues running but I was still able to play it from start to finish. Since IV continues right after III, the Crossbell stuff is still here and I still didn’t feel much for any of the Crossbell characters. However, there were several more characters returning from Sky and I was happy to see a lot of these characters. The plot however, I found some parts a little dumb, I guess. I don’t know, I just didn’t find it too impressive or interesting. The other games had shocking revelations but IV really didn’t have anything like that. It was just thing happening after thing happening until it was over. Most major events got barely any reaction from me. As for the gameplay, it was more tolerable than III, aside from some technical problems like falling through the floor during combat constantly in Orchis Tower, long loading screens, and getting stuck on cutscenes. For the latter two, just changing the computer I used helped. Since III took on I’s format, IV took on II’s and I felt it pretty exhausting in this game too. I played all the way to the end and I gotta say, I didn’t really have that strong of a reaction to the ending. I did enjoy playing all of these, especially I and II, but I’m glad I’m done with them for now. And who knows, maybe I'll do a more detailed review on YouTube some day...? I am tired of things not working out. I've been trying to get a job for a good while. I've sent in many applications but I've only ended up with a few interviews. I wasn't able to get any of the jobs I was trying to get. One day, by nothing more than luck, I ended up working part time loading ice cream trucks. However, that has come to an end for now. I was told I was off until I was needed again and I've only been called back in twice. I knew I was going to need to get a more reliable job and start working more hours, but no matter how hard I try and how many applications I fill out, it just doesn't work.
I'm doing my best but I'm dealing with all kinds of ridiculous comments at home. Stuff like "This person got a job easily, why can't you?", "You're not even trying.", or "Many places were hiring so you should have had a job by now." With the latter comment, you'd think it would have been easier to get a job, but no. Nobody seems to want me. I do want a job. Anyone that thinks I don't doesn't know what they're talking about. It's just that no employer seems to want me. I just can't get any further than an interview most of the time. Claiming I'm not trying at all is just dumb because if that were true, I wouldn't have filled out a single application in the first place. And I'm tired of the logic that because one person will easily or quickly get a job, it will work the same for everybody. It obviously doesn't. If that were true, I would be working right now. Honestly, I am very frustrated with this whole thing. I am struggling with getting a decent job but I've got some people around that don't understand what I'm going through. They just continue to claim I'm not even trying and I know that in the end, they'll claim that I'm the one being ridiculous. It's gotten to a point where I really don't know what to do. I keep filling out applications, but nobody will hire me and because nobody will hire me, I keep getting complaints at home. I didn't really want to type all this out, but due to my current circumstances like the lack of understanding and the fact that some applications get rejected, I've been forced to. It just hasn't been easy and felt nothing but frustration this whole time. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is one of the biggest disappointments of this year. It hurts because it was one of the games I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, there are plenty of problems with it and I'm not alone with this. Lots of players have been complaining. The launch of the game was far from smooth. Just like when I participated in the closed beta test, the game lagged like crazy. It took a while for it to actually reach a much more playable to state but it was still far from ideal. The game wasn't running smoothly at all and the worst part is, players were suddenly required to get through the long intro of New Genesis before they can unlock a feature that shouldn't even be locked in the first place.
The thing about New Genesis is it was released as a part of the original Phantasy Star Online 2. The idea is that you'll be able to switch between the two games at any time you want. That sounds like a good idea on paper, but in execution it just makes me feel like New Genesis should have been its own separate game instead of being tied to the original Phantasy Star Online 2. I had spent so many hours in the original game so having to play the new game to unlock access to a game I had already played makes no sense to me. Worst of all, you have to do this with all of your characters. While there's some early missions can be skipped if you've already completed them with one character it doesn't make this any less annoying. Switching between the two games has been far from seamless. New Genesis works differently from the original game's mission based format by being an open world game. In an attempt to make things more convenient, there's only one loading screen and it is extremely long. Even the original PSO2 takes too much time to start up. I've been lucky that I've had a computer that can run it, but some players haven't had the same luck and are unable to play the game at all. When logging in, they just get an unbearable amount of lag. That's how it was for me on my laptop for a while until I got the idea to launch Razer Cortex. I normally don't find boosters like this helpful since they don't usually work for me, but it seems to have worked for PSO2. Thanks to that, I'm able to get into both the original game and NGS on my laptop pretty quickly. However, it's pretty dumb that I even have to launch another program just to get this one game to run better. They run near smoothly this way, though it should go without saying that the original game performs way better. NGS has a habit of freezing every now and then. Sometimes the game will continue, but other times it just gets stuck there and I have to exit the game, which can cause a great loss of progress on some story missions! Since PSO2 has become pretty much unplayable for a lot of players, the player count has dropped quite a bit since I started playing. Both games have missions that go much better with multiple players, although I'm more familiar with the original game. There were quests I played a lot that were made with multiplayer in mind. Whenever I got in the past, several players were there waiting to start a mission. We'd be at or close to the player limit for that mission before we began. Now when entering one of these quests, I often find nobody there waiting to participate and I don't have the patience to wait for anyone else to join so I just end up not doing those missions most of the time. It's not just players that have left the game, some features were taken away with the launch of New Genesis. While the updated graphics for New Genesis are nice and all, it doesn't really make up for anything. There were ways for players to get special items without paying real life money. Plenty of campaigns existed which would get the player in-game currency called Star Gems or SG and fortunately, players are still able to get the currency in the same way, but these days, you have to login into NGS, not the original game. We don't really get any of the good campaign items anymore. Whenever there's been anything, it's always been an apology item for some graphical glitch. Some days we'd get SG and on others, we'd get bonus keys which are used for bonus quests which are really good for grinding exp and leveling up. Bonus keys can also come from the daily recommended quests, but I haven't been seeing them much lately and when I do, it's never the good bonus keys. Back to SG, there used to be the Fresh Finds Shop, which would have several random items that changed daily and you could spend SG on them. It's gone now. PSO2 also had what they called Mission Pass. How this worked is the player would perform missions which could be anything like completing a quest on a certain level, go fishing, break a container of a certain color, or get your class to a certain level. After completing enough missions, you would unlock tiers and the more you unlocked, the more prizes you would get. After the launch of NGS, it's gone. Oddly, last I checked the mission for checking out Mission Pass is still in the game and my characters that have never done Mission Pass have no way to complete it. t's easy to feel like Sega's gotten greedy, since a lot of the cosmetic stuff that players used to be able to get for free by working for it is now locked behind a paywall. To be fair, a lot of stuff was locked behind a paywall already, but the thing is, there's so much less a player can get without playing. To make things worse, a lot of this stuff is locked behind a gacha system, so you're not guaranteed to get what you want. Thankfully, some of the gacha can be done with SG and there is one free pull daily. But that doesn't really change how lame all this is. The money crap is definitely annoying, but there's another reason that people are annoyed with what PSO2 has become. New Genesis is very lacking in content. The original PSO2 definitely lacked in content when it came out in Japan in 2012, but it's 2021 now so players would definitely expect more. With the original game from 2012 until this year, I assume content was released at a decent-ish rate and for players outside of Japan we were definitely spoiled as we got a lot of content at a pretty good rate. This is due to the fact that Phantasy Star Online 2 did not release outside of Japan until last year. Because of that, there was a ton of content that just had to be localized and then they could roll stuff out. In defense of New Genesis, it is new so we obviously won't receive stuff at the same rate as we did for the original PSO2. However, several players feel like the releases of new content are too far spread out. When New Genesis launched, several classes were unavailable. To be fair, it was like that in the original PSO2 for a while. However, considering the whole idea of switching between the two games, not having all of PSO2's classes available is kinda lame. It makes hard when sending an old character to PSO2, because then we need to decide what new class we're going to give them. It might have been better if all or at the very least most of the original game's classes were available in New Genesis from the start. If that was the case, we wouldn't be getting excited for classes that were already in PSO2 and perhaps NGS could have just gotten some new exclusive classes instead. To be honest, New Genesis players are dying for new content in general as they find they are running out of things to do. A lot of New Genesis players have finished the story quests and are left with just randomized tasks, some changing daily and others weekly. I've looked at those task lists and they have plenty of things for the players to do, but I can only imagine these tasks getting really repetitive. Not only that, but the amount makes players feel like the game isn't respecting their time at all. Speaking of not respecting time, there is a very annoying mechanic that was added to New Genesis: Battle Power or BP. As you do more stuff in game, like fight enemies earning exp, upgrade weapons, and complete tasks, your BP goes up. However, it moves up so slowly and it's even a requirement to get through the story. To be honest, it's just some extremely stupid and annoying way to pad out the game's length. Does Sega care that their fans aren't happy with the current state of the game. With things the way there, they're making it seem like they don't. There have been several complaints but Sega seems to be ignoring them, acting like everything is just fine with game they managed to screw up this summer. I really do hope things will change at some point, because myself and several other players aren't satisfied with New Genesis. Whenever I login, I find myself getting bored pretty quickly. New Genesis made leveling up tedious and not fun, so I have no motivation to do it. Whenever I do decided to boot up Phantasy Star Online 2, I usually just start up the original game, because too be honest with the way things are now, it's way more fun to play. I hope Sega won't ignore all the complaints and will actually do something to fix the issues we've been having. I'm sure I didn't cover everything since I mainly stuck to stuff I experienced myself and read from others. I'm not gonna try to get my hopes up, but Sega's going to have to make some big changes to the system and the game's performance if they want to get anywhere near the amount of players they used to have. After a good while of working on it, and a bit of a break in the middle, I have finally finished this visual novel. The goal was to make something sad like visual novels from Key/Visual Arts. They're known for stuff like Clannad, Little Busters, and Angel Beats. Winter Dream takes inspiration from more than one of their visual novels, some of which already listed. If you're a fan of their stuff, you might like this visual novel. I wish development could have gone a bit faster, but I had some stuff come up in my personal life and got distracted by RPGs. For a good while, a lot of my attention went to them since they take so long to complete.
Anyways, in this visual novel, you'll play as a boy named Caron Duff who moves in with his uncle Daniel during his winter vacation. He meets three interesting girls while he is there. First is Velda Penn who works for Daniel. She has a bad habit of speaking rudely to almost anyone. Next is Gwen Coy who is shy around new people and after getting to know her, Caron learns how playful she can be. Lastly, there's Rose Sherburn who cares more about others than herself. There are multiple endings you can get: good and bad. Each girl has both a romance ending and a friendship ending. Get at least one of those endings on each of their routes and you'll unlock a new route. When you complete that route, you'll unlock one more. Winter Dream is my attempt at a sad story, which I'll admit, I got a little bit choked up when writing one of the scenes. Hopefully I've succeeded in creating something that will make others feel the same way as they read Caron's story, from the happy times to the sad times. There isn't really much else to say but I hope you'll check it out and hopefully you'll like the story and characters. If you pay extra for it, you'll be able to get the original scripts and a manual. Check out the visual novel here. At one point, I was really interested in watching gender swap manga. However, finding content where the characters actually had their sexes changed was a little difficult because all of the recommendation lists and progress tracking sites had these grouped in with crossdressing or just going against gender roles. There was only so much I could find for anime so I ended up reading manga instead. Maybe a little too much manga? Well, I’ve read so much that I figured I should recommend some while at the same time praying at least most of these will get an anime adaptation at some point. 10. Onii-chan wa Oshimai!/ONIMAI: I'm Now Your Sister! This is the story about an older brother named Mahiro that’s pretty much a NEET. He stays at home playing video games, reading manga, and anything else typical for an otaku. One day, his younger sister, Mihari, who happens to be a scientist, has him try out some strange drugs. When he wakes up the next morning, he has the body of a middle school girl. Against his will, his sister makes him attend middle school where he makes some female friends and gets used to his life as a girl. Things aren’t perfect though since the drugs come close to wearing off sometimes and Mahiro ends up peeing herself more than once. Overall, it was an interesting read. 9. Gacha Gacha: The Next RevolutionA normal high school boy ends up trying out a Gacha Gacha video game but things go wrong due to a glitch. This glitch makes it so that every time Akira sneezes his gender will change. While he does have trouble, like transforming at the wrong times, he ends up using it to his advantage. As a girl, he ends up becoming closer to Yurika Sakuraba, a girl that he has a crush on. However, keeping this gender switching ability a secret isn’t easy. Akira is constantly getting into trouble all thanks to that video game. It was pretty entertaining but it is a pretty ecchi manga and the main character is a big pervert. 8. KimoOta, Idol Yarutteyo/Disgusting Otaku, Become An Idol!I once saw someone say that this could work just fine as a standard idol story without any gender swapping and while I kind of agree, I’m fine with this. The story follows an otaku named Yousuke Aisaka who happens to be a huge fan of idols. One day he wakes up as a female version of himself named Yoko. After getting over the shock, he, now a she, decides to become an idol. She meets idols she was a fan of, makes new friends, and struggles to be successful. So far, the gender swap doesn’t have much to do with the plot and it isn’t brought up very much. It’s still an interesting manga, though. 7. Tensei Pandemic/Gender Change PandemicBeing a boy with a feminine appearance can at times lead to people assuming your gender and that has happened more than once with Hinata Imamura. Due to some trauma with his first love, he wanted to become more manly than anybody else. One day, he ends up getting injected with a shot and the day after that, he ends up with a female body. To make things worse, if he were to kiss someone or transfer fluids, it would cause their sexes to change. This causes trouble throughout the school that most students aren’t even aware of. For a good while, Hinata hides the face that his sex has changed. While this was pretty interesting, it is pretty ecchi. 6. Boku GirlFor this next one, we’ve got another boy with a feminine appearance. Mizuki Suzushiro is constantly turning down the confessions of many boys that ask him out thinking that he’s a girl. To make things worse, the girl he likes thinks of him more as one of the girls than a potential love interest. After witnessing Mizuki turn a guy down, the trickster god Loki who has grown bored of playing tricks on other gods decides to prank Mizuki by turning him into a girl. Waking up as a girl, Mizuki ends up freaking out. Mizuki’s best friend is the first to find out about what happened but for a while, it’s kept secret from everyone else. Mizuki ends up spending the next several days hiding his new female body and secretly figuring out how to live as a girl. Like some of the previous stories on this list, this one was pretty ecchi too but it was still a good read. 5. Ore no Tomodachi ♂♀ ga Kawaisugite Komaru!/I am Worried that my Childhood Friend is too Cute! It’s nice when you can reunite with an old friend, but when you find out they’ve got a condition that changes their sex, it can make things pretty awkward. For the first time in ten years, Amano returns to the city he lived in as a kid. He meets with his childhood friend Yukio Sawataria who suddenly turns into a girl. While Yukio is happy to see their friend again, Amano feels more than a little awkward. It turns out that Yuko is affected by an illness called “spontaneous isomerism metamorphosis” that causes people to change sex at random times. Because of this. Amano will have to spend time with Yukio as a girl and also deal with other people that have the same condition. This manga is a bit ecchi as well, but it’s not too bad. I thought this was pretty enjoyable. 4. Mendokusagari Danshi ga Asa Okitara Onnanoko ni Natteita Hanashi/About a Lazy High School Guy Who Woke Up as a Girl One MorningThings were going normally for Shuuichi Hayasaka until one day his lazy roommate, Masamune Yasuda woke up as a girl. Having to suddenly share a room with a girl makes Hayasaka feel uncomfortable but Yasuda doesn’t really mind it because whether male or female he can still sleep. Everyone at the school finds out about it and there’s even an announcement made. For the most part, everyone just accepts what happened. Their classmate Sugimura is really into it because he’s a fan of gender swap stories. However, the same can’t be said about Shuuichi’s sister who had a crush on Yasuda. Overall, I really liked how casual this story is. There are also bonus chapters were Shuuichi becomes a girl instead. 3. Majitora!/Magical Trans!High school boy Minami-kun spots a poster for the Magical Girl Club asking for members. He decides to join thinking that he’ll get to see some cute girls cosplaying. Along with his childhood friend, he receives a smartphone app that will turn the phone’s owner into a magical girl. Minami-kun is pretty quick to get into this, often enjoying being in his new female body. Due to being so into it, Minami decides to do a lot of activities as a girl. Eventually, their club gets a rival and there’s some occasional fighting but for the most part, it’s just casual slice of life stuff. It was pretty entertaining. 2. Ame Nochi Hare/Clear Up After RainAmagai Gakuen, a prestigious school for boys, gets hit by an unusual spring storm during the entrance ceremony. Four boys who were late for the ceremony: Hazuki, Toma, Yusuke, and Junta get caught up in the storm’s violence and something strange happens. All of them get transformed into girls. They’re soon found by a staff member that gives them a place to stay, keeping their secret. It doesn’t take long for the boys to learn that every time it rains, their genders will change so they have to make plans according to the weather, sometimes attending a boy school and sometimes attending a school for girls. When I think of gender swap manga, this is one of the first I think of. I really liked this one. 1. Osananajimi wa Onnanoko ni/My Childhood Friend MUST Become A GirlOne day, Shuichi saves a magical fairy named Sylphy from drowning in a pond. To thank him, she offers to grant him a wish. Shuichi is quick to ask for a female childhood friend. However, it isn’t possible for Sylphy to create someone that never existed so instead she turns Shuichi’s male childhood friend, Iori into a girl. Iori isn’t happy about this but as long as he feels strongly about being male, his female form won’t last. But that’s not going to stop Sylphy, who continues to transform him into a girl. Thanks to this, his whole class knows about it. Iori has to deal with being transformed at inconvenient times and tries to keep it a secret from several people including his mother. To be honest, this is one of the most memorable gender swap manga I’ve read. These are my current picks for gender swap manga. I’ve read several others so another list could happen someday. It’s more likely than anime since there are way more for manga. Hopefully there was something here that caught your interest. If not, oh well. These are just a handful I liked that I wanted to say something about. Now that I have, I don’t really have anything else to say. So, either check these out or move on with your life.
After not saying much about, it's time I finally reveal some more information about my next visual novel! I've been wanting to make a visual novel like this for a while and I finally got around to it. Development has gone as fast as I'd have liked due to me now having a real job and some big projects going on at home. In my upcoming visual novel, "Winter Dream", you'll be following Caron Duff who moves in with his uncle during his winter vacation. It won't all be relaxing though, since his uncle owns a restaurant and will be putting him to work. While he stays with his uncle, Caron meets three interesting girls. Velda PennThe first of the girls he'll encounter is Velda since she works at his uncle's restaurant. Unfortunately, she's not the most pleasant person to be around and won't hesitate to say the rudest things to just about anyone. Gwen CoyHe'll run into Gwen not too much later. She's pretty shy around new people but the more often she sees someone, the more likely it is she'll be comfortable around them as long as they don't upset her. Rose SherburnThe last of the girls is Rose. She's very nice and often putting others before herself. Most of her time is spent taking care of or helping children. Since this is still in development, I have no idea what the difficulty is quite yet. I'll figure it out after it receives more testing. There are several more features I want to add before this out too. One thing I'd like to point out is that despite it being called "Winter Dream", which I don't know if the name will stick, there isn't going to be a whole lot of snow and that's for two reasons. The first being that I don't have enough backgrounds with snow and the other is because where I live, it's totally up in the air how much snow we'll get when winter hits. Sometimes we'll get a lot and sometimes we get next to nothing.
This visual novel is going to be a bit different from any of the stuff I've worked on previously. In terms of length, I'd say it's definitely longer than School For The Friendless. Unlike School For The Friendless, when you complete the three routes, either with a friendship or romance ending, you'll unlock an all new "true" route. This is because the visual novel is based on stuff from Key/Visual Arts like Kanon, Air, Little Busters, and Summer Pockets. If you've read any of their stuff than you've most likely figured out that this visual novel is one of the saddest I've written. I'll admit, I did get a little choked up when writing some of the final scenes. Anyways, you can look forward to this coming out Summer 2021, as long as I don't have to delay it for whatever reason. Hope you look forward to what I consider one of my best. I get interested in different anime genres at different points in time. There have been times I just wanted to watch cute shows and there was a time I got really into romcoms. And then there’s last year, where for some reason, I was interested in gender swap anime. However, I quickly ran into a problem. When I was looking for recommendations or listings on the anime progress tracking sites I use, everyone always lumped this stuff in with crossdressing or going against gender roles, even though they are NOT the same thing. There are only a handful of shows I’ve watched that I’d consider to contain true gender swapping and it’s not always going to be the protagonist that has their gender changed, so this list is going to be my top shows where gender swapping is a main theme. I’m going to be sticking to actual gender transformation and alternate universe versions of characters since I’m not that interested in body swapping. 8. So I'm A Spider, So What?I’m going to start with something that started this year. The main character, a high school girl ends up getting reincarnated as a spider monster in a fantasy world. To make things worse, she starts off in a dungeon full of dangerous monsters. However, she’s not the only one that reincarnated. Her entire class ended up in that world as well. Her male classmate, Kanata Ooshima reincarnated as a girl named Karnatia Seri Anabald, also known as Katia. The show will go back and forth between Kumoko struggling to survive as a spider and her classmates, most of which being together and actually human. Everyone there that reincarnated is aware of who is a reincarnation and Katia acts like her former self when around other reincarnations. 7. Gugure! Kokkuri-sanThis show was definitely a weird one. It follows a young girl named Kohina who calls herself a doll. One day she ends up summoning Kokkuri-san, a lower-ranking ghost in Japanese folklore. Originally, Kokkuri intended to haunt Kohina, but he was worried about her after finding out she didn’t really eat anything besides cup ramen. After that, he kind of ends up becoming her caretaker. A couple other spirits end up hanging out at her house, one of them being the dog spirit Inugami. Back when they were still alive, Kohina was the only one to pay attention to them so they ended up loving her, a bit too much. As a dog spirit, Inugami cannot remember what their gender was so they can switch between a male and female form whenever they want. Several episodes in, Kokkuri-san ends up suffering a curse that turns him into a woman. Due to accidentally destroying the instructions on bringing him back to normal, he ends up still being a woman in the next episode. The curse ends up being broken in the end, though. 6. Girl Meets GirlHazamu, a shy boy who loved gardening, ended up working up the courage to confess his love to the girl he liked. However, she rejected him. After being turned down he wanders up My. Kashimayama where he first met her to reconsider his feelings. He ends up getting lost and wishes upon a shooting star, but the star actually ended up being a spaceship that literally crushed him to death. The alien piloting the ship felt guilty about what happened so he used his alien technology to bring him back to life, but there’s a catch. The alien would not be able to bring Hazamu back as a boy and after that, the boy would come back to life as a girl. It ends up being no secret that Hazamu became a girl since it ended up being all over the news and most characters were pretty supportive of his transition. Unlike most gender swap anime, Hazumu just went with it when most other gender swap protagonists would be freaking out due to their change in sex. 5. To Love RuAliens seem to always make things weird in fiction and this anime is no exception. Rito Yuuki has incredibly bad luck, always failing to confess to his crush due to highly unrealistic circumstances. One day while sulking he accidentally ends up becoming engaged to Lala Satalin Deviluke, the princess of the planet Deviluke. After she enters his life, all kinds of crazy weird things end up happening and they encounter several other aliens. One of which is from the planet, Memorze. Aliens from this planet can change gender upon triggering a specific stimulus. For Ren/Run Elsie Jewelria, their gender changes when they sneeze. And they both have different personalities. The male self (Ren) hates Rito for liking Lala and the female self (Run) isn’t fond of Lala because she likes Rito. The gender swap doesn’t stop there though. At one point in the series, Lala is working on an invention that doesn’t work the way she wanted. It ends up getting used on Rito and he turns into a girl. Lala later makes this into an invention that she would actually use on him every now and then, to his disappointment. 4. Log HorizonOne day when logging into the online fantasy game Elder Tales, several players are sucked into the game’s world and their in-game avatars become their new bodies. Since some players played as the opposite sex, they would find out what it was like to be a different gender. Not everyone was happy with that though. Akatsuki, a girl who played as a male character is quick to ask for a gender change potion since she feels way more comfortable in a female body. Later in the show, Tetora/Tetra becomes part of the main cast. She was a male in real life but after ending up in Elder Tales, adjusted to her new body and had no desire to change her gender. Not only did the players have to get used to these new bodies, but they had to figure out how things were going to work in the game and manage to set up their own government. 3. Gonna Be The Twin-tail!!Souji Mitsuka is a high school student that really loves twin-tails. One day, he meets the alien Twoearle in his family’s restaurant and she gives him a bracelet. In their first encounter, his childhood friend Aika Tsube does not trust Twoearle at all. It isn’t long before Souji has to use that bracelet. By activating it, he will transform into a twin-tailed girl named Tail Red. While a girl, he fights perverted aliens that want to take over the earth with their perverted desires or something. His female self ends up becoming really popular, but it’s kept secret for the most part. His mother found out immediately but she was extremely supportive. Souji won’t have to fight the aliens alone, though. He’s later joined by Aika who becomes Tail Blue and their school’s student council president, Erina Shindou who ends up becoming Tail Yellow. During this time, Twoearle is allowed to stay at Souji’s house and even builds a special headquarters. Also, she’s really horny for Souji, which his mother is for some reason okay with, but Aika strongly disapproves. 2. KämpferOne day, Natsuru Seno ends up receiving a stuffed animal from his childhood friend, Kaede Sakura. This stuffed animal is a part of the “entrail animals” series which features animals that were killed in brutal ways. For some reason, people that got these would become Kampfers, female fighters. However, Natsuru is male. He soon ends up learning that he has to fight other Kampfers which leads to his life becoming a living hell. Not only does he have to put up with this, but Kaede, who he has a crush on falls in love with his female form. To make things even more complicated, his school separates the boys and girls and he ends up having to attend school as both his male and female self. To make things worse, it takes time to have better control over his transformations so he comes close to changing forms at the worst possible times. 1. Fate Series (Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Grand Order)In a world where magic exists, there is something known as the holy grail war. Perhaps I should say worlds? Fate lore is so complex and each series seems to take place in its own world even when it seems like some of them could connect. For the most part, each show kinda just takes place in its own timeline. Anyways, the holy grail war has several people become masters and they work with servants. These servants are historical figures or in some cases, they may come from the future. By winning the war they can get the grail and make a wish.
Several historical figures have had their genders swapped from what they were in legends or actual historical records. Saber, or Artoria Pendragon is a female version of King Arthur. She shows up in Stay Night, Zero, and Unlimited Blade Works. She serves Shirou Emiya in SN and UBW, but in Zero she serves his adoptive father, years before his death. In Fate/Grand Order there are several servants that were gender swapped. One that you’ll end up seeing a lot of is Leonardo da Vinci. While most gender swapped servants are simply alternate universe versions of characters, in Fate canon da Vinci is male, but ended up taking the appearance of Mona Lisa when summoned. Unlike most of the other servants, da Vinci doesn’t really fight and acts more like an assistant at Chaldea. There’s a lot of Fate series out there and I haven’t seen them all. Most I’ve seen are fine, but stay away from Prisma Illya. These are my top anime with gender swap. I know the last is technically more than one show, but the franchise is so big, I had to include everything. Or should I say, mostly everything. If you were looking for stuff like this, hopefully you found something you’re interested in. If not, sorry, I guess? Just a warning: a few of these are pretty ecchi/lewd: To Love Ru, Gonna Be The Twin-Tail!!, and Kämpfer. I don’t really have anything else to say, so I’m not really sure how to end this. I'm just gonna stop typing now. It's been over a week since I released my latest visual novel, which I will admit was an April Fool's project. Considering what it was meant to be, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. For the most part, that project was finished ahead of time and I just had to play a bit of a waiting game for my planned release date. Because of that, I had plenty of time to outline my next project, which is sort of a combination of ideas I've had in the past. For a while, I was pretty on and off with the actual writing part but I eventually got super motivated and managed to finish writhing the script earlier today.
Since I'm finished writing, most of my attention is going to go toward the coding part. I don't really have much to share about the project right now but I can at least confirm that this is both the longest and saddest visual novel I've ever written. I am very confident in the game's plot and look forward to completing it. You can find more updates about what I'm working on via my social media accounts, Twitter being the one I use the most. While you wait, why not check out one of my other visual novels if you haven't. And if you haven't read through "My Loving Wife" yet, you should probably get around to that... I know I've been super quiet about game development for a while but that's because I had nothing I could really announce. The last half of last year, while I did have ideas, I wasn't actively working on stuff. More of my time went toward my YouTube channel or web novels I decided to work on. I've slowly been writing down my plans for all kinds of things since the release of School For The Friendless, but not all of these will be seeing a release this year. I've got a couple of projects that I'm going to be focusing on at this point in time. Anyways, in my absence on pretty much any website I put my games up on, I've been working on something for a little while and now it's finally here.
This was an idea I had for a while now. It was just something that I thought would be fun to do, so I went with it. I was even able to shove some ideas from previously canceled projects in here. Enough wasting time. What is my latest visual novel about? Well, it's about you. At the beginning, you're given a few choices: you can pick your gender, you can choose your own name, and you can name your wife. This is the story of you and her. Every day you come home from work to see her and the two of you spend time together. You love her more than anything and hope that this time you spend with her will last forever. Overall, it likely won't be too hard to figure out how to get each ending. There are are only a few you can get. How you treat your wife in the game is up to you. You can either be a decent spouse or you can be a complete jerk. The latter of which I don't condone doing in real life. If you're going to piss people off on purpose, try to only do that to fictional characters. I didn't get as into making this as the previous visual novel, but I did have a good time writing and coding it. If you're interested in playing this, it's free to play. Payment is completely optional. If you do decide to pay for it, you'll get some extra files: a manual, the original script, and the first beta that was given to testers (the last of which being exclusive to Itch). You can check it out here. |
