Things certainly have been interesting these last several weeks. Several businesses, schools, and even churches have been shut down due to the virus that's been going around. I understand the concern, but there certainly has been a lot of panic. And I do have to wonder why all this panic is coming out now and it never was this bad with other major illnesses we had going around in previous years? But still, it never hurts to be a bit cautious. Some of the people panicking are definitely being dumb, buying up more crap than they need - hogging it all and making it harder for others to get stuff. It's gotten to a point where limits have to be put on the amount of items you can pick up from a store. This I'm sure makes it pretty hard for families with tons of children.
As for me, I never really went out much in the first place. Although, I can't really say things are the same now. Several businesses have closed down and a handful let employees go, and that includes my mother. At the very least, I don't have to help my younger sisters with their school work by myself. I was a bit surprised when I found out they'd be out of school for about six weeks. However, the time period was extended, so they won't be going back to school until this Fall. However, I'm hearing whether or not there is school in the Fall is debateable at this point in time. I appreciate not having to get up as early, but I do miss the peace and quiet from not having them at home. It certainly has been weird, not sending them off to school or even going to church. There are people that got more free time with everything going on but in a way, I ended up with a bit less. Because a lot of people have been home, there have been some interesting sales on games. Heck, a handful have even been as much as 100% off! So, being the kind of guy I am, I claimed several games that I may or may not actually end up playing in the future. Jokes aside, I do intend to check them out when I can since I only claimed what interested me. I found most of the temporarily free stuff on Itch.io and at this point, a handful of what I've claimed cost money again, but if you look now, you might find some that interest you. Other places such as Steam and IndieGala have had stuff so I made sure to check what their offers were. So, if you want to give yourself something to do and own a computer, look for games that are currently 100% off from these places, or even some other sites I haven't listed. Heck, I'm probably going to continue looking through the offers for the next few weeks or so. As long as these deals are going on. I'm still trying to find time to enjoy myself too. I pick up my 3DS now and then and play something. I've got some playthroughs I'm wanting to finish up and even some games that I've started but never finished playing through. Hopefully I'll be done with those one of these days. I also watch anime when I'm not working. Some have been airing for a while and I'm watching them while the episodes are being put out. I'm watching dubs for stuff like Somali And The Forest Spirit, Welcome To Demon School Iruma-kun, and Golden Time. I don't just watch shows with English audio though. Ascendance Of A Bookworm Part 2 just started and while the show does have a dub, I've been watching that show with Japanese audio. I did check out some other stuff though, like Anonymous Noise which aired a few years ago and I'm currently watching through A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, since I recently got interested in watching some older anime. It's not all fun and games for me. Well, sometimes I'm making the "fun and games". What I mean to say, is I have been doing some work. Of course there's YouTube and I've been doing a weekly schedule of mostly unscripted videos since February. The main reason I've been doing videos in this format is because I did mostly scripted videos last year and it really took a lot out of me. I figured this was a good way to ease myself back into YouTube. I did put out a few scripted videos too. One of which was a review for a game I recieved a review copy of, so that was fun. Most of my videos I've been working on lately though have been recorded ahead of time since it's hard to record with everyone home. But there are times when I can use my mic which is why I've been streaming Professor Layton And The Curious Village this week. I intend to stream the later games in the series on Twitch too. Lastly, I'm working on another visual novel. It was supposed to be sort of like a spiritual successor to "The Weird One" which came out last year, but it's turning out a bit more serious than I had planned. Bits of comedy are still in the game though. But yeah, that's about all that's going on with me. This has been a weird, but interesting year so far, hasn't it?

I wasn't always into anime. It was only after getting an interest in visual novels thanks to Ace Attorney, that I got interested. For a while, I didn't really did do anything more than visual novels and other anime-themed games. I did catch the first season of the Ace Attorney anime when it originally aired. I consider myself to be a pretty big fan of the series, so I had to. I eventually got to a point where I really wanted to watch anime so now I watch some anime pretty much every week. For some reason this year I've been watching a lot more seasonal anime, so I figured why not talk about some of my favorites from this year? 10. Kaguya-Sama Love Is WarNot gonna lie. When I started watching this, I actually thought it was an older show by at least a few years for some reason. If I hadn't checked and just watched the show, I would have believe it due to the dated Twitter description of only being able to use 140 characters, rather than 280. But enough about that. This show is a romantic comedy that doesn't really have any plot. The two main characters are president of the student council, Miyuki Shirogane and the vice president, Kaguya Shinomiya. Both of them spend the show trying to get each other to confess, but their attempts always fail. The other members of the student council get caught up in their little "war" on more than one occasion. Overall, it was pretty entertaining to watch. 9. My Roommate Is A CatI'm sure that at least some of you aren't surprised at all that this is on here. This anime follows writer Subaru Mikazuki, who had recently lost both of his parents. One day, he encounters a cat when visiting his parents' grave and ends up taking her home. This cat ends up giving him an idea for a story that he would end up writing. The show made share to give both him and the cat a decent amount of screen time. Seeing the world from his cat's perspective was pretty interesting. The rest of the time, we see him trying to write or just being socially awkward. Though if I'm honest, the thing I really can't get over is how he has the same English voice actor as Accelerator from A Certain Magical Index. 8. The Quintessential QuintupletsWhen I had decided to watch this, I had just started watching season 2 of We Never Learn and wanted something similar since I'd have to wait at least a week to watch another episode. I remembered that this existed and ended up watching it since it had a similar concept. So, this is a harem anime about a set of quintuplets. The main character, Fuutarou Uesugi ends up getting a job where he'll be tutoring these twins. However, when he first heard about the offer he didn't know he'd be tutoring that many or that one of them was someone he had met the day he got the offer and wasn't very fond of. The series has him trying to tutor all of them but most of them don't really want his help and are likely to run off. Thanks to these girls, he ends up getting into a lot of trouble. 7. Senryu GirlThe main character, Nanako Yukishiro of this show doesn't speak. At least, not with her mouth. Instead, she chooses to get her words out by using her senryu, which are 3-line Japanese poems that treat human nature often in an ironic or satiric vein. Being completely honest, there is no plot to this show. However, the one thing that this show explores is her relationsip with former delinquent Eiji Busujima. Throughout the show, friends of theirs try to get them together, but so far it hasn't really worked. Not much else to say, really. I just find this show to be really cute. 6. Hitori Bocchi's LifestyleWhen Hitori Bocchi ends up going to a different middle school than her best friend, she's told that she needs to become friends with everyone else in her class or else she and her best friend won't be friends anymore. Unfortunately, Bocchi is an extremely shy girl with really bad social anxiety. Despite this, she still manages to at the very least make some friends. Not everyone is willing to befriend her though, which really isn't helping with her social anxiety. Even with struggles like this, she manages to keep trying. The entire first season follows her and her new friends throughout their first year of middle school, all the way up until when the seniors of that year graduate. I thought this show was pretty cute too. 5. If It's For My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat A Demon LordBy this point, you probably know that I like watching cute anime. What can I say? I've been a big fan of cute things for years. When I first heard the title of this series, I raised an eyebrow, but I still decided to check out. After just one episode, I was sold on this show because of how cute it was. This show follows Dale Reki, who had recently became an adventurer. On one of his missions, he finds an orphaned demon girl named Latina in the forest. Because he knows a bit of the demon language because magic spells use it, he's able to communicate with her. Since she has nowhere to go, he ends up taking her in. Over time, he grows pretty attached to this kid and she loves him too. It would be good if that's all their relationship was. However, I heard the light novel this is based on had other ideas. Thankfully, the anime hasn't pulled any of that crap so far. For some reason, Japanese content creators seem to love pulling the "they're not related by blood" card. However, most sane people would find something like this disgusting. It was a cute and sweet idea, so finding out that he and Latina get married in the light novels did not leave me with a good feeling at all. Let's just say if this show gets more seasons and it pulls the incest crap, I'll give it a low rating regardless of the quality because of how disgusted I'll be. Ignoring that for now though, this was an incredibly cute show. 4. A Certain Scientific AcceleratorWhen I heard that this was going to be a thing, I wasn't really sure what to think. I had previously watched the original series and the spin-off, A Certain Scientic Railgun, enjoying both quite a bit. I was never the biggest fan of Accelerator, but I can't say I really hated him either. He made his first appearance in the original series as a villain. In fact, he often refers to himself as a villain after his defeat in that show. A Certain Magical Index had at least a few episodes that would follow him and eventually Last Order, the smallest of Mikoto Misaka's clones. His series is pretty much the same, at first. A new girl, Esther Rosenthal who has the power to bring people back to life (sort of) shows up. At first, he doesn't really want anything to do with her and just wants to continue doing his own thing. Though some of the people he's encountered would argue that he should be staying in the hospital since this takes place after he got shot in season one of the original series. So it turns out Esther got caught up in some kind of messed up experiment, and Accelerator ends up trying to put a stop to it. Just watching him take out his enemies was incredibly satisfying. There's just something entertaining about "a son of a bitch villain" as he calls himself completely destroying everything. Things don't always work out for him though. So, in the end, I enjoyed this like I did with the other shows. However, I feel like the action was a bit more gruesome this time around than what I'm used to. Still worth a watch if you're a fan of the series. 3. Fruits Basket (2019)More than a decade later, Fruits Basket got another anime and this time it's planned to adapt the whole manga, so there's something to be excited about already. The main character is the orphaned Tohru Honda who had just lost her mother. Because of her circumstances, she was unable to live with any of her living relatives and chooses to live inside of a tent. One morning, she finds a house nearby and learns that a popular boy from her school, Yuki Sohma, lives there with Shigure, a member of his family. Eventually, Yuki and Shigure find Tohru's tent and end up offering to let her stay at their place. When staying at their place, she ends up discovering their secret by accident. And that secret is the fact that when they're hugged by the opposite sex, they transform into animals, which are a part of the chinese zodiac. Even after finding out, they still let her stay and she has to do her best to keep this from getting out. Having seen the 2001 anime, I had been seeing a lot of the same events I had already seen. However, these were all done in a different way so it was still interesting to see. There were a handful of events and reveals that never happened in the original so that was cool too. I loved seeing what was different in the remake compared to the original. But if I'm completely honest, I definitely consider this remake to be the superior version. The original never got more than a season and this one is already getting a second. This reboot is not only nicer to look at, but it's definitely a lot more entertaining. 2. Dr. StoneI will admit, I haven't actually finished this show yet. But that didn't stop it from becoming one of my favorites. For some reason, one day seemingly everyone on earth gets turned into a stone. Well over a million years pass before any of them break free of their stone cages. When they came back out, a repeat of the stone age is waiting for them. The main character, Senku already has an interest in science, so that really helps him come up with stuff needed to survive. Starting off alone, he eventually discovers away to free others that were trapped in stone and manages to save a few of them. Not only is he trying to do this, at the same time he wants to get society back up to where it was before it collapsed. Along the way, he encounters a village full of people that are a lot different from those that were turned into stone. Senku gets to know some of them and ends up getting one of them to work with him on his projects. However, since he's an outsider, most of the village doesn't trust him yet, so it would take something pretty big if he wanted to get any of them to like him. I wasn't expecting to like this show as much as I did, but it's certainly one of the most entertaining from this year. Also, this show can be pretty cruel with its cliffhangers at times. All I can say is I'm pretty curious where this show will go next and look forward to seeing what happens. 1. The Rising Of The Shield HeroAt least one person reading this might be rolling their eyes because I think so highly of an isekai. But that's a pretty crappy mentality to have, because whether or not a show is an isekai isn't what affects the quality AT ALL. To be fair, a lot of Isekai came out this year, but that doesn't mean that each one that came out was bad. This was definitely one of the good ones. This show follows college student Naofumi Iwatani. He goes to the library, picks up this one book mentioning four heroes and notices something interesting. There's information about most of the heroes, but nothing on one of them: the shield hero. Well, it turns out he would be the shield hero. He gets sucked into the book and ends up in another world. One he would have to try to save. Unfortunately for him, the shield hero is constantly discriminated against. He never did anything wrong, but no matter what he did, he would be treated like some kind of criminal. The worst part is what he was accused of: sexually abusing the older princess. Of course, that's all a load of crap but everyone believes it. As the show goes on, you can really feel Naofumi's frustration from constantly being accused of one thing after another.
Since it got to a point where nobody would join his party, he went and got some slaves. However, he doesn't treat them like slaves. One of them is a raccoon demi-human named Raphtalia and the other is a Filolal, or bird-like monster that he names Filo. She can also take on a human form. Both Raphtalia and Filo love their master, and at times try to one-up each other with doing nice things for him. I did find the pacing a little weird, but it was a good show from start to finish. What's hard to forget though, is the controversy surrounding it. One being the accusation at the beginning because according to every feminazi ever, every man accused of rape is obviously guilty, even when it's so freaking obvious they're not (yes, woman like that REALLY piss me off). The other part is slavery. Some dumbasses think this show is promoting slavery, but it really doesn't. While Naofumi gets Raphtalia and Filo as slaves, like I said earlier, he doesn't treat them like slaves. He even told Raphtalia that she didn't need to get her slave crest back after it was taken away. So in the end, the show never says slavery is okay and it's even shown more than once that the people selling slaves are in the wrong. Oh well, whether those dumb feminazis like it or not, this show has been confirmed to get up to a third season, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. And there you have it. These are my top ten picks from this year. These aren't meant to be full deep reviews or anything. Just saying what I liked, sharing what they're about, and giving some thoughts here and there. So, what do you think? Any on this list that you did like? Any not on this list that you wish I would have included? Be sure to tell me. Other than that, I don't really have anything to say. Hard to believe another year is almost over. And I'm sick right now. That's always fun. Let's hope I don't bring this illness into 2020! A lot of people that watch anime do it illegally and there are multiple reasons for that. I tend to stick to official sites like Crunchyroll, Funimation, and HIDIVE, but they definitely have their issues that lead to people wanting to pirate anime instead. These issues could be with the sites themselves because there's something wrong with the video player or it could even be the people running the service. Some of these people I hear pretty bad things about and they can be pretty out of touch with the community a good chunk of the time.
Now for the obvious reason people don't like using official services: the ads. If you pay for a subscription you can watch the videos with no ad breaks. However, some streaming services make you pay for a subscription with ads. Thankfully, most of the anime streaming services I use don't make you sit through ads with paid accounts. Some free viewers will try to get around the ads by using adblockers, which most of time end up eventually getting blocked so they'll have to start viewing ads again, unless they over to the shadier side of anime viewing. But is getting ads while watching anime really a bad thing? When I use the apps for the services, I can sit through them no problem. In all honesty, how is it different from sitting through ads when watching cable? A big difference with these streaming services is that there is some consistency in how the ads play. VRV will have three ad breaks during a free twenty something minute episode and one during a ten or so minute episode. There are episodes so short that no ads will play on a free account too. Each ad break usually only has three ads. Funimation plays one at the beginning of the video and then there are three more breaks for ads, but each break plays like four this time. A little annoying but not the end of the world. But still, people would rather go without ads, so they'll go over to a piracy site to watch. They won't get ads during the video but there are all kinds of questionable ads on these sites which can even lead to someone getting adware. People do try to get around these by using adblockers but some of these piracy sites do fight back and ban people for using stuff like adblockers or even VPNs. Gonna be real honest here: I'd much rather deal with the ads on an official site than be at risk of getting adware. It's not just the ads, though. There are multiple streaming services out there, each with different shows and rules. For the most part, only a portion of their content is available to free users, but some sites like Crunchyroll do offer a reasonable amount of content for free users. By paying a subscription fee, you get access to a service's entire library without ads. This leads to my next point: anime is split across multiple different streaming services. While some offer free shows, others have nothing or close to nothing available to those that aren't willing to pay up. I highly doubt a lot of people would want to pay for multiple streaming services at once when there's no guarantee they're going to use them all within the month, since subscriptions are paid monthly. Anime fans would love to have access to all of this stuff at once, but not everyone is willing to pay that much money just so it's all available to them so that's another reason they go over to those piracy sites, because they have pretty much anything, subbed or dubbed, regardless of who has the streaming rights. But since everything's split up, that makes it harder to anime fans to watch their shows cleanly. By having multiple services, they're all going to follow different rules and their inconsistencies are definitely going to irritate some people. What each site does differently is what's available to free users and what isn't. On Crunchyroll, new episodes are free after a week. There are some exceptions though, including some dubs that are only on the site temporarily for some reason, and some OVAs, which I kind of understand. For the most part, Crunchyroll's stuff does not stay locked on premium. Then there's Funimation, who decides what's premium and what's not whenever the hell they feel like it. What I understand the least of all about them is why they'll have some shows available in Japanese with subtitles for free but not the dub even when the dub has been out for a long ass time. And what I understand even less is when the latest season of a show can be watched dubbed by free users but not the previous ones. Seriously, Funimation, what the hell are you guys smoking? So, there's no consistency in what's premium only and what isn't. New shows get locked behind a paywall for a while and at least half the time, the restriction eventually gets removed, but the timing just isn't good. Maybe I'm spoiled by Crunchyroll, but there's way too long of a gap. For a seasonal anime, I can wait more than one week for an anime, but when it takes months, things are a little ridiculous. I can understand making a dub premium only when the dub itself is fairly new but there's no reason that I can't watch older shows dubbed but can still watch them in Japanese! Honestly, the worst part of one of their shows having both Japanese and English audio is they don't make it clear before you click on a video that it can only be watched in Japanese if that is the case. A "subscribe" icon usually shows up on a video if it requires a subscription, but if at least one language is free, it's gone and can lead to a user assuming the dub is free too. This is freaking ridiculous, Funimation. Then there's HIDIVE, which is pretty much premium only. I got to try out a free month thanks to Anime Expo, so that was nice. So with them, you're not really watching anything without a subscription. They do have free episodes, but that's it: free episodes. Just the first episode of some hand-picked shows. Lame. As for their library, it's fine. They've got some exclusives but honestly, I don't really see much of a reason I've using this unless you like dubs by Sentai, which are exclusively on here because of their partnership. Most of the shows they have can already be watched free in Japanese with subtitles elsewhere, like Crunchyroll. These are just the ones I've used. Of course there are more like Tubi, Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu. Tubi's all free, but their stuff can be removed at any time and their selection is pretty limited. Amazon has shows that you can watch with prime but some shows you have to buy episodes individually for some reason. Then Netflix and Hulu require subscriptions. The former used to have partnerships with Yahoo and Anime Planet and allow users to watch anime from them for free, but as far as I can tell, that's all gone. It's really frustrating how we have to go through so many different sites to watch all the anime we want to watch. And it's not just anime that's guilty of this. Shows over here in the west are on too many damn streaming platforms, because everyone and their dog thinks that they have to have one, and then they wonder why everyone's pirating their stuff. Whether you using streaming services for anime or other shows, they're all going to split across the different services. Each service will only show what they have a license to stream and in some cases, it's questionable where a show goes. For example, the dub of New Game has been offline for almost a year after Funimation and Crunchyroll split up. When they split up, they started discussing who would get what shows, so Funimation was able to increase their subbed library and Crunchyroll got a handful of dubs originally on Funimation. Apparently, New Game was one of the dubs Crunchyroll was supposed to get, but I guess they can't make up their minds about who gets it. And then there are odd cases where a title dubbed by Sentai isn't even on HIDIVE. Angel Beats in on Netflix, and that might have something to do with Aniplex having involvement with that anime. But the subtitled version is on Crunchyroll, so what the heck? Some shows that people would want to watch just don't even get put on the official streaming services for one reason or another. The second season to Skilled Teaser Takagi-san has wrapped up but was never picked up by any of the official streaming services. At least any that I know of. And when I say this, I mean services in the west. I don't feel like I'm missing out on much by not having it, but there are people that enjoyed the first season and would most likely love to see the second. So when the official streaming sites don't have the show they don't want to watch, what do weebs do? They're gonna over to those piracy sites because they have pretty much anything regardless of whether or not it's been on an official platform. Not only do they have official dubs, or subtitles, but there are also fansubs and occasionally fandubs in situations like these. It's cool that people are willing to put in the effort to do that kind of stuff, but it doesn't make it any less y'know, illegal. To make things even worse for legal services, if you look up anime streaming services, a lot of the results you'll get are for the illegal ones. There are even sites listing their recommendations for streaming services and yes, they do include the piracy sites. There are ways the official sites can fight piracy, such as opening up more content for free users and placing ads on videos or making sure their stuff is up to date. They amount that they charge really doesn't help them out, but they probably feel they need to charge that much because people are pirating, so I don't know if you can really win there unless you can somehow convince more people to come over. Honestly, what we really need is a site with everything people would want to watch all together in one place with everything at a decent price. This way people would be much less tempted to pirate. As long as they don't have the crappy restrictions Funimation has, I'm sure they'll do great. The closest we've had to something like that, at least in the United States, is VRV, which is a collection of different streaming services in one place including: Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Rooster Teeth, Cartoon Hangover, Boomerang, and more. They used to have Funimation, but they left after ending their partnership with Crunchyroll, so yeah, have fun being a victim of piracy, guys. The biggest problem is everyone wants their own service but when you keep having that attitude you're just going to make people want to pirate even more. Even if there is a good solution to this, like the idea I mentioned, there will still be piracy but I feel like it could be greatly reduced, but the thing is, the people running the streaming services aren't smart enough to realize the problem. I haven't been making games as actively as I used to, but when I do work on something, it's usually something original instead of a fan game. However, I still have to use backgrounds, sprites, music, etc. that I didn't make. Thankfully, there are a lot of artists and creators that allow others to use what they create in their projects. Anyways, this game is a visual novel and this is the first one I've written with a female protagonist, because why not? Now here's the story.
Camille has made up her mind and plans to confess her feelings to a friend of hers. However, what she doesn't know is that this guy is much weirder than she thinks. Whatever choices she makes will have a huge effect on whatever universe she's in. Some decisions may allow her to continue to have a normal life but others will throw her in all kinds of weird situations. Will Camille be able to tell Dave how he she feels about him or will he drag him into whatever weird things are going on with him? Download: Itch.io Gamejolt Rpgmaker.net I've been thinking about cancel culture lately and how much of a negative impact it has on all of us. Yeah, some people do bad things and there are those that remain terrible people but what about those that truly reflect on their actions and are able to better themselves? Assuming someone is guilty of whatever they're accused of, they are like all humans capable of learning from mistakes they made and this does include online personalities and any kind of celebrity. It's entirely possible that after some backlash and time off, they could become better people. In fact, people going to prison and being let back out into society and reforming is an actual thing that happens. People can be better even when they did a thing they shouldn't have done.
That applies to any one of us. How would you feel if you had accusations hurled against you, whether true or false and your replies were full of nothing but clown memes and hatred for you? It wouldn't be fun, would it? When it comes to drama involving different people, rather than jumping on a bandwagon, get some fucking info first. You should never blindly believe what others say. Educate yourself before you make your judgments. Next of all, when it comes to controversy involving different people that aren't you, just remember, they aren't you and their problems technically aren't your business. Relationship issues should only be discussed with the parties involved and not leaked for a ton of random strangers on the internet, because it doesn't involve them. It involves those having issues with their relationship. I very strongly take issue with people calling out others online, especially when it comes to illegal or at least questionable things, because these people usually just go to the internet BEFORE ever talking to the police or anything and that's really fucking disgusting. Moving on, when all this drama goes on, all kinds of different accusations and evidence for or against will be tossed around the web. You can make your own decision on whether it's credible or not. Worst of all, some of what we have to go by or what people say and not legit actual proof, so in those cases, who can you trust? If someone's claiming to be a victim and someone else is accused of doing something to them and all you have are words, that doesn't really mean anything. You aren't them. You don't know them. You don't know what's going on in their lives. You can't make a true and honest judgment in these circumstances. One of the biggest problems I have with cancel culture is people will believe pretty much anything even when they can't actually verify it. When you can't actually verify, you obviously don't know the whole truth. On one hand, it can lead to a false accusation, which can and does happen and this can be due to certain circumstances, which unfortunately includes the genders of the parties involved. In some cases, one person is more likely to be believed than the other person wrapped up in the situation. We can't blindly believe in someone's innocence either. I know most sane people wouldn't be happy to find out they defended a criminal, or a "monster" as the internet would most likely paint them. What's worse is cancel culture damages the reputations of the parties involved. Both the accused and those claiming to be victims of any of these situations. People lose respect for both because some believe an "innocent person was falsely accused by a horrible person" or someone turned out to be "a terrible person". In the end, cancel culture is bad for all of us with it having us pointing fingers and losing respect for those we once respected or in some cases having a bad first impression of them. Even when they're in the wrong, though, they can improve themselves. It's bullshit that none of us are willing to give people a second chance, not even after shit cools down. It would be nice if when stuff like this happened, people could learn and move on and in some cases, even forgive. All cancel culture does is ruin people's lives, whether they're guilty or innocent. And this all shows just how bad people in this world have gotten. Instead of posting clown memes or whatever, take some time to calmly take information in and then judge, but most of all, learn when to move the fuck on. It really pisses me off when you're still obsessing over some dumb shit a celebrity or online personality did or said ages ago. As I say this, there are ongoing controversies and they're certainly not going to be the last. However, what I'm saying is we really need to change how we react to these situations. Hey, all. Depressed here. Yeah, I don't really do updates on my own website that much. I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to doing that, but I guess I should just say what's going on here just in case you don't follow me on
Twitter or you're not someone that has to put up with me on my own Discord server. Usually, I don't give way to many details about my personal life and at this point, there are still things I'm not sure when or if I'll share. Anyways, lately I've felt a lot more depressed than usual. First of all, I keep failing in college so I've gotten to a point where I can't take any more classes unless I wait a year and even then my chances of getting back in aren't very high. Whenever I do fail, I just end up with my dad yelling at me and then it turns into a back and forth between the two of us, usually with me pulling hair out. And my dad has the nerve to claim I wasn't even trying. If I hadn't even been trying I wouldn't have shown up to class during the week I was sick, and there was an assignment I was required to physically be present for two days and if I missed any of those days, I'd pretty much be screwed for that assignment. This happening over and over is part of why I'm do damn depressed these days. Because of this, I feel a lot less motivated to do anything. To make things worse, I don't actually have a real job right now and my parents love to shove that fact in my face. Just recently, I was relaxing like everyone else was at home and was in voice chat with a few friends on Discord while playing a video game and my mom walks in and wants to pick a fight with me because someone we both know had written and published a book and she asks me why I'm not doing stuff like that. As I said before, I'm not feeling motivated to do stuff but like usual, she blames video games and says it's because I'm playing them all time even though I play them a hell of a lot less that I used to. My parents have a really bad habit of making me feel like crap, but even if I explain it to them it goes right over their heads. I know this because I've tried more than once. My mom may have come in to have a talk with me one day after a sermon at church about parenting and talking about how she knows she's not the best part but the next time that happens I'm really not gonna want to hear it because I know damn well she'll go back to being the same terrible person she's always been. I've gotten to a point in my life where I don't know what I should do or even what I want to do most of time and my parents aren't really helping out. Just making me feel even worse. At this point, I don't really know the fate of my projects. I still intend to release Fixing Things some time this year but the possibility of it being delayed to 2020 does exist. I have another one of my shorter visual novels that I already said was coming out this month. I hope it'll still be this month, but for all I know it could be pushed back to next month. There's also the story I started writing that I mentioned in one of my last posts on here. It's been in progress for a while. The planning started in 2017 but I didn't get started on the story for real until last year! I've written over 300 pages so far in Microsoft Word 2003 with size 15 font. Originally, I took a break from writing it so I could focus on college stuff, and look what good that did me. Now I'm feeling to depressed to pick it back up. Sometimes I'll open the document, but it only lasts for a short period of time. Hopefully, I can get back to being serious about writing this because I do have ideas that I want to go through with: plot twists I look forward to writing, but I'm just not sure how I'm going to execute all the ideas I have. If people weren't making me feel so bad and I didn't screw everything up, maybe I'd be more motivated to work on the damn thing! Sorry for the rant, I'm just far from the best I've been lately. I’ve been working on a story somewhat similar to the ones I did in high school and this time with a female protagonist and honestly, I’m doing my best to just focus on making what I hope will turn out to be a good story. I’ve heard it’s best to write a character similar to yourself as the protagonist (for example, Shu Takumi, the creator of Ace Attorney wrote what he thought he would say in the situations he put Phoenix Wright in) so I figured I’d have a similar approach here. As I write, I just have the main character say and do what I think I would if I were actually a girl. By doing this, I have been able to write a decent amount.
And today I have reached 100 pages in Microsoft Word! I wouldn’t say I’m too close to the ending but I’ve at the very least gotten about half of it done! I started writing down ideas for this story a couple years ago during my last year of high school. The very first thing I did was write down my ideas for characters. At the time, I had a certain direction I wanted to go, but that idea was scrapped. Every time I tried writing I wouldn’t get very far. However, I did like a handful of the characters I came up with. After a while, I decided to just do a different take on the stories I did in high school in combination with some shows and games I like. Now I’m satisfied with what I have set up. It took me over a year to get started and last summer was when I really started to plan everything out. I still don’t have exactly everything figured out yet but I’ll get there eventually. I don’t know when I’m finishing this but I hope I will considering I have at least 100 pages now. I’m looking forward to getting closer to the end so I can write the big reveals/plot twists and possibly foreshadow future entries since there’s more I want to tell. When I think about the possibility of Danganronpa continuing there are honestly a lot of different directions they could go with it. Like for example, we could do one of the killing games that happened between the 3rd (Danganronpa 3: The End Of Hope's Peak High School) and the 53rd (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony). From what I can understand, the killing games in between don't really have a connection to the Hope's Peak Story started in the original trilogy, so that really just opens up the possibilities. The only downside, I guess would be Junko would still show up considering she was in V3 as the 53rd Junko. I'd also think it would be interesting to see the 52nd killing game that Rantaro had participated in and became the ultimate survivor. Or they could just set up a new world with new characters. I think there's potential either way.
With a different team working since on it since Kodaka left the company, we have to wonder how it will affect the quality of the series. Kodaka's writing has been... not great for the most part, so I don't think it would be too difficult to get a decent writer. It would be nice to have a writer that can make an actually good Danganronpa ending for once. Giving a series to new people always has the possibility of leading to problems but it also creates the possibility of fresher takes on a series. In the end, there are many ways this could go, so it'll be interesting to see what the team comes up with, when/if the series does continue. It's been a while since I made an update about what's going on with me, because well I haven't really felt comfortable with talking about everything that's been going on with me. More than a year ago, I started college and well, things haven't really been going as well as I had hoped. When different people have different ways of reacting to things it just makes things that much worse. My life has reached a point where I feel as if I'm trapped in a loop. In this loop, I attempt to do something, fuck it up, and then end up feeling far too depressed to do anything and then I repeat the same process.
Sometimes I wonder if there's any point in continuing when the results will likely turn out the same. No matter how hard I've tried to make change, it just never worked in the end. I have days where I do what I'm supposed to and days where I just sit on my ass doing nothing, whether it be playing a video game that's new to me, replaying one I love, watching anime, or just screwing around on social media. Of course I could be using some of that for some type of work. As hopefully a lot of people that follow me now, I have a YouTube channel which is mostly video game reviews and other game-related topics. I've taken a bit of a break from the more serious stuff, but I'm not done. I do have some interesting things planned for the channel after all. I've already gone out of my way to gather some footage for future videos, so hopefully you'll be able to see all of it someday. But that's not all I have to do. Since late 2016, I've been working on a visual novel and it's been a while since I announced details on it. All I can say is I'm positive it'll be done some time this year. Of course, that's just the plan and it could ultimately be pushed to 2020. But as long as I work on it, that's unlikely. One of the routes is completely done and the others are reaching (if not there already) the halfway point. I'll definitely reveal more as I make more progress. This likely won't be the last visual novel I create either. I've had several other ideas for future works in my head and wrote down the basic ideas so there are several stories I can choose to write in the future. I already have my next major project figured out after having a dream one night. It just seemed interesting enough to work into a full story, along with some of the details of other dreams I've had. The rest I'm going to figure out as I go, like I'm doing with my current project. I'm thinking when everything's all said and done, I could probably move on to a more linear project, either kinetic or with choices that don't drastically affect the story. As of now, these are my plans for my current projects and I'll do my best to work on them as much as I can whenever I can. Hopefully, my personal life will change too but I'm not getting my hopes up for anything actually good to happen. I don't entirely have my life figured out at this point, and I've already broken down a few times these past few years. The good news is that I haven't lost my mind yet and will do my best not let anything get in the way of me getting stuff done, whether the work is for myself or someone else. |
