I’ve been working on a story somewhat similar to the ones I did in high school and this time with a female protagonist and honestly, I’m doing my best to just focus on making what I hope will turn out to be a good story. I’ve heard it’s best to write a character similar to yourself as the protagonist (for example, Shu Takumi, the creator of Ace Attorney wrote what he thought he would say in the situations he put Phoenix Wright in) so I figured I’d have a similar approach here. As I write, I just have the main character say and do what I think I would if I were actually a girl. By doing this, I have been able to write a decent amount.
And today I have reached 100 pages in Microsoft Word! I wouldn’t say I’m too close to the ending but I’ve at the very least gotten about half of it done! I started writing down ideas for this story a couple years ago during my last year of high school. The very first thing I did was write down my ideas for characters. At the time, I had a certain direction I wanted to go, but that idea was scrapped. Every time I tried writing I wouldn’t get very far. However, I did like a handful of the characters I came up with. After a while, I decided to just do a different take on the stories I did in high school in combination with some shows and games I like. Now I’m satisfied with what I have set up. It took me over a year to get started and last summer was when I really started to plan everything out. I still don’t have exactly everything figured out yet but I’ll get there eventually. I don’t know when I’m finishing this but I hope I will considering I have at least 100 pages now. I’m looking forward to getting closer to the end so I can write the big reveals/plot twists and possibly foreshadow future entries since there’s more I want to tell.

When I think about the possibility of Danganronpa continuing there are honestly a lot of different directions they could go with it. Like for example, we could do one of the killing games that happened between the 3rd (Danganronpa 3: The End Of Hope's Peak High School) and the 53rd (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony). From what I can understand, the killing games in between don't really have a connection to the Hope's Peak Story started in the original trilogy, so that really just opens up the possibilities. The only downside, I guess would be Junko would still show up considering she was in V3 as the 53rd Junko. I'd also think it would be interesting to see the 52nd killing game that Rantaro had participated in and became the ultimate survivor. Or they could just set up a new world with new characters. I think there's potential either way.
With a different team working since on it since Kodaka left the company, we have to wonder how it will affect the quality of the series. Kodaka's writing has been... not great for the most part, so I don't think it would be too difficult to get a decent writer. It would be nice to have a writer that can make an actually good Danganronpa ending for once. Giving a series to new people always has the possibility of leading to problems but it also creates the possibility of fresher takes on a series. In the end, there are many ways this could go, so it'll be interesting to see what the team comes up with, when/if the series does continue. |
